Ave was very sure that she was awake right now.
After seeing a figure in the mirror two days ago, she ordered the mirror to be replaced the very next morning.
She first ruled out the possibility of a problem with the mirror—after all, as far as she knew, the magicians from the Astrologer's Guild were always up to something with mirrors, either revealing spirits or reflecting people's deepest fears.
So, there was only one answer left.
Her house was haunted.
But this was a rather heartwarming haunting event. She saw her mother, who had passed away many years ago, in the mirror, looking at her with warmth and reassurance, so even though it was late at night, the scene was not terrifying at all.
Compared to the cautiousness of their first meeting, Ave was much calmer tonight. She just sat on her bed, gazing into the eyes of her mother in the mirror, her inner gloom dissipating. She vaguely hoped that this moment could last a bit longer.
