Chapter 6
---------------
Silence followed the disappearance of the rift, heavy and unnatural, as if the world itself was holding its breath. For a brief moment, nothing moved. No wind. No sound. Even the distant sirens had died out.
Then the sky twitched.
It was subtle at first—like a muscle spasm—but it quickly grew violent. Clouds twisted inward, folding over themselves as colors bled into one another. Gravity distorted. Rubble lifted from the streets only to slam back down moments later, shattering what little remained intact.
The system reacted instantly.
> [SYSTEM ALERT]
Authority Interference Confirmed
Retaliation Protocol Activated
Event Classification: World-Scale Correction
I narrowed my eyes.
"So this is how you answer," I muttered.
If I wouldn't submit, they would simply rewrite the world until I no longer fit inside it.
The air split open violently, not with elegance like before, but with brute force. Massive golden chains erupted from the sky, plunging into the earth across the city. Each one radiated an oppressive power that crushed everything beneath it—buildings, streets, even ambient mana were forcibly stabilized, locked into an unnaturally rigid state.
> [SYSTEM WARNING]
Law Anchors Detected
Function: Anomaly Suppression
Primary Target: Host
I rolled my shoulders as pressure descended, heavy enough to make space creak. "Figures."
Three figures emerged from separate breaches, descending slowly as if carried by the will of the world itself. Their bodies were humanoid, but hollow—faces smooth and devoid of expression, eyes glowing with runic light. They stood atop platforms of condensed authority, their presence cold and mechanical.
> [SYSTEM ANALYSIS]
Executors of Order
Rank: Sub-Authority
Purpose: Deviation Erasure
One of them spoke, its voice layered and distorted, echoing from multiple directions at once.
"Anomaly Wang Ling. Your existence deviates from predetermined outcome vectors."
Another stepped forward. "Assimilation was rejected."
The third raised its hand. "Commencing forced correction."
The chains tightened.
Pressure slammed into me like a collapsing world. Mana froze. Space compressed. My vision blurred as causality itself wrapped around my existence, trying to pin me down.
For an instant, the city vanished.
I stood in a vast white void, surrounded by endless lines of light—equations, probabilities, futures being recalculated and overwritten in real time. I could feel them probing me, attempting to erase me not physically, but conceptually.
> [SYSTEM CRITICAL]
Host Existence Under Direct Revision
Deletion Probability: 47%
A low laugh escaped my lips.
"You really think fate owns me?"
Something shifted—not raw power, but perspective. The system flickered violently.
> [SYSTEM NOTICE]
Defiance Threshold Reached
Hidden Function Unlocked
Anti-Authority Resonance Activated
Cracks spread across the white void. Reality shattered outward, collapsing back into the ruined city. Everything froze mid-motion—the chains suspended in the air, the Executors halting as if time itself hesitated.
I stepped forward. The pressure vanished instantly. Another step, and fractures spread through the golden chains.
"Impossible," one Executor said. "Authority supremacy—"
I was suddenly in front of it.
No teleportation. No distortion. I simply existed there.
I grabbed its face.
"Supremacy only works if I accept it."
My fingers closed.
The Executor didn't explode. It unraveled. Its head collapsed inward, erased at the conceptual level, its body disintegrating into fragments of broken law that scattered like ash.
The remaining two reacted instantly, forming blades of condensed causality as timelines bent toward me, trying to lock my movement.
I inhaled, then exhaled slowly.
"Sit down."
The command carried weight. Their platforms shattered, both Executors slammed into the ground as invisible pressure crushed them into the earth. Cracks spread for kilometers as reality bent to obey.
They struggled. Failed.
"Go back," I said calmly, leaning closer. "Tell them their schedule is already broken."
I snapped my fingers.
Both Executors were ripped from the world, hurled back through collapsing breaches like rejected errors. The sky cleared. The chains dissolved. The city breathed again.
The system chimed softly.
> [SYSTEM UPDATE]
Authority Kill Confirmed
Anti-Authority Resonance Stabilized
New Title Acquired: Fatebreaker (Unranked)
I looked out over the ruined skyline and smirked.
"So this is how it's going to be."
Far beyond this world, in a place where realities were weighed and timelines were currency, a council chamber trembled.
And for the first time—
My name was spoken not with amusement…
…but with fear.
