The humming birds chirped, flying around Zoi as he slept on a sturdy branch high up in the tree. The morning sun peeked through the leaves, casting dappled shadows on his face. The warm rays danced across his skin, gently nudging him awake. He stretched while letting out a long yawn, and sat up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
As he looked around, two humming birds zipped towards him, their iridescent feathers gl gling in the sunlight. One perched on his shoulder, and the other landed on his hand. Zoi's face lit up with a smile as he brought the bird on his hand closer to his face, using a finger to gently stroke its feathers.
"•••." "What?" Zoi asked the system, his voice barely above a whisper.
The bird on his hand suddenly let out a loud squawk, its beak snapping open, aiming straight for Zoi's eyes. He reacted instinctively, flipping the bird to the ground before it could connect.
The other bird on his shoulder followed suit, lunging at Zoi's face. He ducked, feeling the rush of air as it missed him by a hair's breadth. With a swift motion, Zoi swung his head back, connecting with the bird in a gentle head-butt, sending it tumbling through the air.
Zoi's eyes narrowed, his breathing steady as he watched the birds regroup, their tiny chests heaving with agitation. The air was thick with tension, and Zoi's instincts screamed at him to be ready for another attack.
"Ugh, what the...?" Zoi muttered, rubbing his head where it had made contact with the bird's beak. He quickly scanned his surroundings, taking in the sudden change in the birds' behavior.
The two humming birds, now on the ground, let out angry chirps and flattered their wings, as if preparing to launch another attack. Zoi's eyes narrowed, his hand instinctively reaching for a nearby branch as he prepared to defend himself.
"Just when I thought I would enjoy the rest of the day, this happens" Zoi murmured, his gaze still on the birds.
Immediately the birds hurtled towards him, their beaks wide open for another strike, but still Zoi remained calm, right as the birds were about to reach him, a cold, sinister smile spread across Zoi's face, he immediately let go of the tree, using his two hands
Zoi immediately released his grip on the tree, snatching the birds mid-air, and slammed their heads together, the gruesome splatter of blood and feathers painting the surrounding leaves crimson.
"Yuck!" Zoi exclaimed, his face twisting in distaste as he wiped his blood-stained hands on the tree trunk, trying to shake off the sticky, warm mess. " I know you knew this would happen, why didn't you warn me!! " Zoi yelled " so what, it's my choice to warn you or not " the system replied " you bastard, you aren't useful at all" Zoi murmured" " oh I know what'll cheer me up, let's try that new skills I got " Zoi added his voice laced with excitement " what was the name again…..oh yeah, quick dash" Zoi said as he immediately appeared a short distance from where he was. "Oh wow, the skill actually wo-" His words were cut short as his feet flew out from under him.
The muddy terrain had caught him off guard, and Zoi found himself careening down the mountain on a path he wasn't familiar with, his arms flailing wildly as he struggled to regain his balance. The world was a blur as he slid towards the edge, his heart racing with a growing sense of dread.
"Shit!" Zoi's voice was lost in the wind as he tumbled over the cliff's edge, his head crashing against the rocky outcropping. Immediately blacking out.
-SOME MINUTES LATER-
Zoi's eyes fluttered open, as he sat up with a dazed expression. "Uggh…" He groaned, cranking his head with one hand. As he pulled his hand away, his eyes widened in surprise. Blood coated his palm.
"Ooof course" he muttered as he staggered to his feet almost falling back down, " whoa there" he murmured as he gained balance. "Whoa, what a fall" Zoi whispered, staring up at the cliff he had plummeted from. The sheer distance sent a shiver down his spine. How was he still kicking but he wasn't disturbed by it at all, " system'' Zoi called out as the system screen appeared " rêbøot äctīoñ ñeëds tõ be tåkéñ." The system screen displayed "damnit, so how long will it take?" Zoi asked "āp0róxīmæt3ly oñ3 hó7r" it answered, immediately switching off.
" Ugh, so I have to survive one hour with the system's help" Zoi sighed as he walked towards a stream beside him and washed his face " there's that handsome man" Zoi said staring at his reflection, immediately Zoi's eyes gleamed with excitement as he jumped away, a small explosion occured where he was, landing with a smirk on the opposite riverbank. "So, my intuition was right," he whispered, eyes scanning the area.
Across the stream, a flamingo engulfed in flames stood motionless, its fiery aura pulsating with heat. "Wow, a flameingo... and it's still a baby," Zoi chuckled, cracking his knuckles. "Should be a walk in the park" he yelled as he widened his left hand.
With a grin, Zoi charged forward, raising the hand and swinging it downwards as he went right pass the flameingo, but it didn't flinch, simply turning to track Zoi with a curious gaze.
"Rest in peace, you were a good ki- what the how're you still alive!!!" Zoi yelled, bewildered as the bird remained standing.
The flamingo let out a deafening screech, flames intensifying as it charged up a massive fireball. Zoi's eyes widened. "Whoa, whoa, whoa! Time out, time out!" Without wasting time the bird immediately fired the fireball at Zoi.
Swiftly Zoi dropped to the ground, narrowly avoiding the blazing projectile. The fireball obliterated the cliffside, triggering a rockslide that sent boulders tumbling into the stream.
"Shit!" Zoi yelled, running out of there dragging the flamingo with him. He leapt across the stream, dodging rocks and splashing water, and grabbed the bird, pinning it down into the water "Water beats fire, haha!"
With a final thrish, the flamingo went limp. Zoi tossed its lifeless form aside, panting. "Uggh, finally. Thought it'd never stop squirming." he said as he looked at his hand which was burnt " of course, I should've thought before acting" he murmured as he turned to face the flameingo but was suddenly dragged into the water.
