Brandon's POV
The knock had felt like a lifeline and a curse all at once.
Saved by the bell.
Or maybe interrupted by it.
My mind had still been spinning from the way Chloe had been pressed against me moments earlier, her breath tangled with mine, her lips soft and desperate in a way I had never felt from her before. I had no idea how far we would have gone. How long could I have held back if that knock hadn't happened?
My chest was still tight when the knock came again, sharper this time, demanding attention.
Chloe moved first, sliding slightly off me, but I caught her wrist gently.
"I'll get it," I murmured.
Her eyes searched mine briefly before she nodded.
I climbed off the bed, my pulse still erratic, and crossed the room.
My fingers hovered over the doorknob for a second, steadying myself, before I cracked it open.
Half of Madison's face came into view.
I groaned.
"What now?" I said, dragging the door open wider. "I thought you and Mum already left."
