Zoe's POV
I woke with a sharp inhale.
For a few disoriented seconds, I had no idea where I was.
The ceiling above me wasn't familiar. Neither were the cream-colored walls, the floor-to-ceiling curtains, or the expensive crystal chandelier hanging overhead. Soft golden light bathed the room, casting warm shadows across polished furniture and luxurious décor.
A hotel room.
The realization came slowly.
My body felt strangely heavy, as though I had been dragged through miles of exhaustion.
My head throbbed.
A deep, punishing ache pulsed behind my eyes.
I squeezed them shut and pressed trembling fingers against my temple.
Then everything came rushing back.
The warehouse.
The loan shark.
The ropes.
The gunshots.
Elizabeth.
The police raid.
The taxi.
The event.
And then—
The girl.
The girl on the stage.
My eyes snapped open.
I shot upright so fast that the room lurched violently around me.
A wave of dizziness crashed into my skull.
The walls tilted.
