Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 — Curiosity Becomes Dangerous

The room remained silent after Aryan's words.

"If I tell you the truth… your life will never be peaceful again."

Most people would have stepped back after hearing that. Most people would have become afraid.

But Nithya simply looked into his eyes calmly.

"Who said I wanted a peaceful life?" she asked softly.

For the first time, Aryan looked slightly surprised.

Only slightly.

Then the cold calmness returned to his face.

"You speak very confidently," he said.

Nithya crossed her arms.

"And you avoid answering questions."

Aryan almost smiled.

Almost.

"You notice too much."

"That's because you hide too much."

For a moment, neither moved.

The tension between them felt strange—not fear, not anger, not romance completely.

It felt like two intelligent people slowly trying to understand each other.

Finally Aryan stepped back toward his desk.

"You should focus on university," he said calmly.

"And you should focus on being less suspicious," Nithya replied immediately.

That actually made him smile faintly this time.

A very small smile.

But real.

Nithya noticed it immediately.

Interesting.

The mighty Eagle could smile after all.

Later that night, Nithya stood alone on the balcony outside their room.

Cold wind moved through the dark sky of Seoul.

Her phone vibrated softly.

Viraaj.

"Ma'am."

"Tell me."

"We found information about Aryan."

Nithya's eyes sharpened slightly.

"What kind of information?"

"There are underground rumors connecting him to an international organization."

"Mafia?"

"Possibly."

Nithya leaned against the railing quietly.

It finally made sense.

The security.

The fear around him.

The strange warnings.

Everything connected perfectly now.

"Continue investigating," she said calmly.

"Yes, ma'am."

After ending the call, Nithya looked down at the glowing city below.

So Aryan had secrets too.

Interesting.

Because Devil hated boring people.

Inside his office, Aryan sat reviewing reports from Europe.

But his thoughts kept returning to Nithya.

Most women avoided difficult truths.

Nithya walked directly toward them.

Most people feared danger.

Nithya questioned it calmly.

Rohan entered carefully.

"Sir, eastern alliance activity increased again."

Aryan's eyes turned colder immediately.

"Reason?"

"They're nervous about your marriage."

Aryan closed the file in front of him.

"They should be."

Rohan hesitated.

"There's another issue."

"Speak."

"Someone at the university is watching ma'am closely."

The atmosphere in the office instantly changed.

Dangerously.

"Who?"

"Not confirmed yet."

Aryan stood slowly.

"Find out."

His voice was calm.

Too calm.

Rohan understood exactly what that meant.

Someone had made a serious mistake.

The next afternoon at university, Nithya sat in the library working on a business presentation.

Her topic:

"Power and Influence in Global Markets."

Ironically, Aryan himself could have been the perfect example.

Ji-Hoon sat across from her.

"You work too seriously," he complained lightly.

Nithya continued typing.

"Work seriously now. Relax later."

"That sounds exactly like your husband."

Nithya paused for a second.

Maybe it did.

Before she could answer, she suddenly felt it.

Someone watching.

Her instincts immediately became alert.

Slowly, she lifted her eyes from the laptop.

A man in a black hoodie stood near the far bookshelf, pretending to read while watching her carefully.

The moment their eyes met, he turned away quickly.

Suspicious.

Very suspicious.

Nithya calmly closed her laptop.

"Ji-Hoon, stay here," she said quietly.

"Huh?"

But before he could ask anything, Nithya was already walking toward the back section of the library.

The hooded man noticed immediately and moved faster.

Nithya followed without panic.

Sharp turns.

Quiet corridors.

Empty staircase.

Finally the man pushed open the emergency exit door and rushed outside.

But Nithya caught his wrist before he escaped completely.

The man looked shocked.

"You're stronger than you look," he muttered.

Nithya's eyes turned cold instantly.

"Who sent you?"

The man smirked.

"So Eagle's wife really is interesting."

That single sentence changed everything.

Before Nithya could question him further, footsteps approached rapidly.

Aryan's security guards.

The man immediately pulled away and escaped over the side gate wall before anyone could catch him.

The guards rushed toward her.

"Ma'am! Are you alright?"

Nithya stared at the empty wall silently.

Interesting.

Very interesting.

That evening, Aryan returned to the mansion earlier than usual.

The moment he entered, he noticed Nithya sitting quietly in the living room.

"You chased someone today," he said immediately.

Nithya looked up slowly.

"So your guards report everything."

"They're supposed to."

She stood up calmly.

"The man called you Eagle."

Silence.

Complete silence.

Aryan's eyes darkened slightly.

Finally.

A piece of truth had appeared.

Nithya walked closer.

"That's not a businessman's nickname, Aryan."

He looked directly into her eyes.

"No."

The air between them felt heavier now.

Dangerous truths were getting closer.

And neither Eagle nor Devil realized…

They were both standing face to face with someone exactly like themselves.
