My steps slow the closer we get.

Before I can overthink more, Xing pushes the door open with her shoulder and tilts her head toward me.
"This one," she says casually. "Come in."
We step inside.
Xing lifts her hand and gives an easy salute. "Sup."
Shen Yuze raises two fingers back, lazy smile on his face.
Jiang mirrors it instantly, like muscle memory.
…Is this how rich, good-looking people greet each other? Why does it look so natural??
Then Jiang looks up.
His eyes land on me.
They widen—just a little—but enough that I catch it.
