After failing to erase Ahmaya's memories—after watching her not only resist but wield the very power they feared—her grandmother and the man, who calls himself her distant uncle stands shaken.
And worse—
she awakened.
The sight of her power… the force in her hands… the way she fought back—
it leaves her grandmother trembling.
Unable to bear it she walk out of the room, her breath uneven. The man follow her.
"I wanted to protect her…." she gasps, her voice breaking under the weight of it. "I didn't want to lose her… like we lost her mother… but maybe….maybe it's too late."
Her chest rise and falls rapidly, panic taking hold. "If she knows her powers… how do we save her? How do we save her now…?"
The man step closer, placing a steadying hand on her back.
"Calm down," he says, his voice low, controlled "There is still a way. We will tell them everything… and let them take her powers. In return, they may allow her to live as a human."
Her grandmother shake her head immediately, fear flashing across her face.
"No…You don't understand. They will not spare her." Her voice drops, trembling "If they even sense she carries a fragment of power… if they sense she is not fully human…they will kill her."
Don't you remember what her mother tried to do?" she whispers. "They will never forget that. They were ready to kill Ahmaya too… right then… when her mother was destroyed."
Her voice trembles .
"They stopped only because her mother made sure Ahmaya had no powers. Her father was human… and when they examined her… they found nothing. No trace. No potential." She swallows hard. "They checked her again and again… and every time, she was just… human. That's why they let her live… after we begged them."
The man exhale, his brows pulling together.
"That's what I don't understand," he says. "She was examined by so many… when she was born… as a child…." His voice lowers, confusion seeping in. "She was a mere human. Then how… how does she suddenly carry Aokma powers?"
A beat.
"Her mother was an exception…" he murmurs. "And now… so is she."
Her grandmother close her eyes, tears slipping down her face.
"Yes" she whispers. "And that is exactly why they will either kill her…or turn her into something far worse."
"Do something…" she pleads, grabbing his arm weakly. "I cannot lose another daughter of this house."
She collapses into tears.
.
Upstairs, Ahmaya stands still for only a moment after they leave.
She feels restlessness in her chest after what just happened.
Mother.
The thought rises suddenly, without warning.
Her face.
Her voice.
The way she said, I am proud of you.
It lingers for a few seconds.
And then it slips away.
Ahmaya step out of her room and walk quickly towards the stairs, her heartbeat rising with each step.
As she reaches the bottom—
"…another daughter of this house."
Her steps halt.
The words strike something deep.
"What…?"
She moves closer.
"Amma?" Her voice is sharper now. "What are you saying?"
Both of them turn.
Ahmaya's eyes move immediately to her Amma's face….wet with tears.
"What are you saying?" she demands, her eyes searching her grandmother's face. "Why are you crying? What is happening?"
Her grandmother wipe her tears quickly, avoiding her gaze.
She turn—and walks away without a word.
"Amma—!" Ahmaya calls, but she doesn't stop.
Ahmaya's hands curl into fists.
she turns to the man—standing right in front of him.
"Tell me" she says, her voice shaking with anger "Who are you?"
Her eyes burn into his.
"Why were you trying to erase my memories?"
The man looks at her, calm.
"Because," he says quietly, "you cannot live as an Aokma… in a world ruled by Pataallok."
Ahmaya freezes.
her palms opens, her hands shaking. "Wha… what?"
"You want answers, don't you?" he continues… his eyes firm.
"Then listen carefully."
A pause.
"Because this is the moment your mother could not turn back from."
