She slowly picked up a cookie and held it up towards his mouth. His lips parted and he took a bite.
Anne could see something in his eyes as he chewed once then halted, however looking in her eyes again and catching the expectant light in them, he continued to eat the bite he had taken fully.
"Apology accepted." He said while suddenly turning to walk away, "Now it's your turn."
She looked at his retreating figure confusedly, "My turn to do what?"
"You'll know soon enough." He said as he exited the kitchen picking up a phone call along the way and she heard his voice fade away.
Anne couldn't help but internally rejoice.
He ate the cookies she made and didn't look angry about it. Had she successfully replaced that bad memory with a lighter one?
It was a few hours later, Anne finally understood the hidden meaning behind his parting words.
