While Alexander and Catherine continued searching the surrounding area, the sky gradually darkened.
It was difficult to judge the time through the fog. Only the mana lamps flickering to life along the streets told them that evening had arrived.
"I guess we need to head back and tell the others what we found," Alexander said, but Catherine did not respond. She was currently using her mana to constantly scan the nearby area.
Most of Mayburn's residents had already retreated into their homes. The few people still moving through the streets were likely city guards completing their patrols.
That was when Catherine noticed one of the mana signatures changing. "Something is happening."
Alexander immediately became alert. "What is it?"
"One of the two that was with the girl has appeared."
The very second Catherine said those words, Alexander held onto his broadsword. "Where is it?"
"Thirty skael to the east of here."
