Olivia's POV
We were in the first-class cabin, on our way to Tokyo - one of the most beautiful cities in the world - with spacious seats that reclined into beds, attentive flight attendants, champagne served in crystal flutes.
I should have been thrilled.
Instead, I sat there like a statue while Gabriel flipped through glossy Tokyo travel magazines, pointing out temples, restaurants and shopping districts we were going to visit.
"Look at this place - Senso-ji Temple. It's the oldest temple in Tokyo, absolutely stunning. We have to go." He turned the magazine toward me. "And this restaurant in Shibuya serves the best tonkatsu in the city. You have to try it."
"Mmm-hmm," I murmured, not really seeing the pictures.
My mind was elsewhere, spiraling through a pattern I was only now beginning to recognize.
Ever since I'd encountered Maxwell for the first time in his love doctor's office, he'd been everywhere. Turning up at unexpected places.
