Chapter 16 - ATB 4

"Léon,"- when she called his name, Sir Léon turned to face in a swift motion, a little startled, more so surprised, the lack of formality was new but not unwelcomed.

"I need to discuss something with you." As I spoke, Léon was staring at me with his deep turquoise eyes. He looked at me as if he never seen me before. "What did you just call me?" He asked, his gaze still full of awe. "Léon…" I replied hesitantly. He gently put Éviene down and, with a quiet blow, shut the larger lamp, which was giving the most light to the room, plunging the room into a soft darkness.

"Go back, and wait for me."

I stared at him, confused, and I frowned a soft frown. "Have I said something wrong?" I wondered, then retreated to my bed chamber. A few minutes passed, and I took a book to read. Slowly, my gaze drifted to my drawer where the necklace Esther gave me sat. I held it up and stared at him for some time, trying to gauge all the features it had. It was a diamond, a soft blue, looking at it closely it center had a flower pattern, a crystal flower pattern which turned purple when it caught the light. I opened the case that lay under it, and there was another necklace, perhaps the one she called most dear; it was a necklace with a fire pearl on it, a silver pale white with a hint of gold due to the light of the room. The pearl didn't look original; it wasn't like the common ones. It was warm to the touch and shiny to the eye. There was something written on the back of it, 'YDL'. Those characters made me wonder what the true reason she gave me the necklace was. I wondered what it meant.

As I stared, Léon came in, now also in a robe, his hair slightly wet. I presumed he had also taken a shower. "Evelyne," he called my name, he called it so effortlessly, it sounded like a poem, at first I thought, "How dare he?" Then I realized I called his first name too. I also called is name in an intimate setting. I let the necklace down and stood as he closed the door behind himself.

"It's strange how your name feels like a melody to my ears." He approached me, his eyes locked on mine, until he stopped in front of you. "I need, we need to-" he kissed me before I could finish my sentence. He intensified the kiss with every passing second.

I lost balance, and we fell onto the bed. He pulled back and looked at me. "Queen Evelyne Du Jardin, be my wife." He stood up and pulled me with him, then he got down on one knee, looked up at me, and asked…

"I see you have gotten impatient with me, which I deserve. Ma reine [my queen], will you make me a man worthy of dignity and marry me?"

 ....

(I know it's a yes, but I still want to hear it, no matter how mechanical it would sound)
