Chapter 133 - Black Widow Takes Down Thor

"Excuse me, Thor, are you talking about yourself?" Tony Stark couldn't help but tease, looking at Thor.

"Who else could it be?" Thor said matter-of-factly. "Barton, Ant-Man, Spider-Man, they're all impressive, but who am I?"

"You're the son of Odin, a god from Asgard!" Black Widow interrupted, chiming in.

"That's right, I am a god! If anyone among us can resist Scarlet Witch's magic, it has to be me, right?" Thor declared confidently.

In fact, everyone present initially thought the same as Thor.

After all, magic is different from other things; it's not something that ordinary enhanced individuals can resist.

In terms of resisting magic, there's not much difference between enhanced individuals and ordinary people.

Even if Ant-Man can shrink and grow, Spider-Man can use spider webs, and Barton can shoot arrows, they have a huge advantage over ordinary people. But against a magician?

There's really not much difference.

Especially since the question mentioned Scarlet Witch using Mind Magic!

Those with enhanced abilities have even less of an advantage.

In this situation, it really is Thor, the god, who seems most likely.

At least, that's the impression it gives.

"From a probability standpoint, Thor does seem more likely than the others to resist Scarlet Witch's Mind Magic."

Captain America spoke with a serious expression.

But then, he turned his gaze towards Thor and said, "But we can't be certain. We need more convincing evidence. Thor, have you ever been subjected to a mental attack before?"

"Not before," Thor shook his head, still full of confidence. "But even if I were, it wouldn't do anything to me. I am the strongest warrior in the world!"

"Everyone, do you remember a pattern we've seen since we started answering these questions?" Tony Stark said slowly, "Whenever Thor is an option, he's never been chosen. Not once!"

"Stark, it's just a coincidence!" Thor complained to Tony Stark. "I'm definitely the right answer for this question, watch!"

"Let's put Thor on hold for now and look at the other options," Hawkeye, Barton, suggested.

Even though Thor was so confident that he could be immune to Scarlet Witch, it wasn't very persuasive. So Thor's option could only be tentative.

In other words, there was only a possibility, nothing more.

The others couldn't come to any further conclusions.

"Hawkeye, Barton, Ant-Man, Scott Lang, Spider-Man, Peter Parker… Unfortunately, we can't make any effective judgments about these people either."

Black Widow stared at the remaining options, shaking her head.

Then she glanced at the others around her. "Does anyone remember any clues that can help us analyze and make a decision?"

"I don't know. Aside from Hawkeye, Barton, who I've only known for about half an hour, I've never even heard of the others," Dr. Banner immediately shook his head.

The others looked at each other, bewildered and clueless.

They knew very little about the other three options. No one knew if they could withstand Scarlet Witch's Mind Magic.

"Barton!"

Tony Stark suddenly remembered something, his eyes gleaming as he spoke to everyone, "When Loki invaded New York, he used that scepter-like thing to control a lot of people, including Barton!"

"That's right, Barton was once mind-controlled!" Black Widow's eyes lit up as she nodded repeatedly.

"So what?" Thor looked at Tony Stark, then at Black Widow. "Just because he was controlled once, does that mean he'll have experience the second time?"

"It's not that I underestimate you, Barton, but you're just a mortal. We're talking about magic!"

"Thor, you underestimate Barton." Black Widow said to Thor with a serious expression. "Barton may be just a mortal, but he can do many things that even you can't."

"How?" Thor looked unconvinced, glancing at the quiver on Barton's back. "With his arrows?"

"Yes, just with Barton's arrows!" Black Widow nodded seriously. "Barton's arrowheads are of many types. He designed them himself during missions, according to different situations and needs."

"If Barton really experienced Mind Magic control, I believe Barton would definitely start researching corresponding arrows to counter the magical control."

Black Widow said resolutely.

Her relationship with Hawkeye, Barton, was extraordinary. She understood Barton better than anyone else present, so her tone was quite certain.

"What kind of arrows can counter magic?" Dr. Banner couldn't help but ask out of curiosity. He really couldn't imagine it.

"I haven't been hit by a magic attack, so I don't know what kind of attack it is. If you ask me now, I can't give you an answer," Barton shrugged.

"Barton is also a maybe," Tony Stark concluded. "In any case, there's a possibility Barton is immune to Scarlet Witch's magic."

Everyone agreed with this.

Especially those who had watched the Civil War video, they actually didn't underestimate Barton at all.

At that time, Barton and Tony Stark fought, and Tony Stark seemed to have completely suppressed him.

After all, no matter how many arrows you have, you can't break through the Iron Man armor's defense!

The collision between the two should have been without suspense.

However, the truth was not like that at all.

Hawkeye Barton made Tony Stark suffer a big loss right from the start.

This person's tactical thinking and grasp of timing are simply brilliant.

The strength this kind of person possesses might not be overly powerful in itself, but the energy they can unleash during a fight could exceed all expectations.

Even if the opponent really did, through some method during the battle, become immune to Scarlet Witch's Mind Magic, it wouldn't be too strange.

"So, what about Ant-Man and Spider-Man? Are they possibilities?" Captain America then asked in a serious tone, looking at the other two options.

"If Ant-Man shrinks down really, really small, like an ant, even smaller than an ant, then it's entirely possible for him to evade Scarlet Witch,"

Tony Stark elaborated. "He just needs to find some place or a small corner to hide in, and Scarlet Witch simply wouldn't be able to find him, right?"

"Spider-Man, Peter Parker? From what we currently know, that boy has a physical constitution comparable to Captain's, and he also uses 'spider webs' to fight."

Black Widow shrugged. "We have no idea if he has any other abilities. Whether he has the means to deal with Scarlet Witch, we don't know; we can't analyze it."

"So, after analyzing everything, we found that all the options are actually possible!" Dr. Banner said, looking at everyone.

"Although all are possible, my possibility is the greatest!" Thor immediately declared confidently, "Don't even think about it. I am a god. If anyone is most likely to deal with Scarlet Witch, it must be me!"

"Thor, since you are so sure, how about we do a live experiment?" Tony Stark suddenly said, having thought of something.

"No matter how beautifully you explain it in theory, it's not as convincing as the facts, right?" Tony Stark glanced meaningfully at Black Widow as he spoke.

"What do you say, Romanoff, how about you use those beautiful eyes of yours to have an emotional gaze with Thor?"

"Practice makes perfect. I have to say, this is indeed a good method." Dr. Banner nodded in approval.

The topic is about countering Scarlet Witch's Mind Magic, and Black Widow's Sharingan also has a similar effect.

So why bother analyzing back and forth? Just do a live experiment, wouldn't that be enough?

"I'm very happy to do it, Thor?" Black Widow looked at Thor with an eager gaze.

"Heh." Thor chuckled, turning around to face Black Widow, waving his hands at her. "Come on, Romanoff, your Sharingan won't work on me!"

The others on the scene looked on with anticipation.

Everyone was really looking forward to seeing if Thor was as awesome as he claimed.

"Thor, I'm starting," Black Widow said to Thor, and then her pupils shifted, revealing her crimson Sharingan.

Immediately afterward, Black Widow used her Sharingan to cast an illusion on Thor.

Thor immediately felt a moment of daze, as if some force had invaded his mind, but that was all. It wasn't that impressive.

He shrugged, looking at Black Widow: "Is it over? Everyone saw it, the Sharingan doesn't work on me at all? I told you so."

"Romanoff, are you finished?" Tony Stark stared at Black Widow and asked.

"It's over," Black Widow nodded.

Everyone turned their attention back to Thor. They saw that he was indeed standing there, completely unaffected.

"Well!" Tony Stark shrugged. "That's really unexpected. Thor is actually pretty good at resisting mind control."

"Stark, I told you so," Thor said with a laugh, turning to Tony Stark.

But as soon as he finished speaking, a dazed look appeared in Thor's eyes. He swayed and then collapsed to the ground.

Tony Stark: "..."

He wanted to take back what he just said!

"I knew it. You can't have too much hope for Thor," Tony Stark sighed, holding his forehead. He had just praised Thor, and then he fell. That was a bit too fast of a slap in the face.

The others looked at Thor, who was lying unconscious on the ground, and felt speechless.

They really thought Thor was fine!

And this is it?

However, Thor was indeed a god from Asgard. He only passed out for a short while on the ground before quickly waking up.

"What's going on? What happened just now?" Thor was a little confused, then immediately realized something, his face full of disbelief. "This shouldn't be! I must have been careless. Romanoff, let's try again."

"There's no need, Thor," Captain America said seriously to Thor.

"Rogers, even if I was caught in Romanoff's Sharingan illusion, that doesn't mean I can't deal with Scarlet Witch..." Thor still refused to admit defeat and explained himself.

Unfortunately, everyone no longer believed Thor.

Although the Sharingan and Mind Magic were two different things, they both controlled the spiritual and mental level. At least the scene just now was very referential.

"Everyone, the experiment just proved that it's still possible for Thor to be controlled by Scarlet Witch, that's all."

"But all four of the options have this possibility, and in fact, their possibilities are even greater than Thor's. We still can't make a choice."

Dr. Banner immediately scanned everyone and spoke.

Everyone fell into thought again. There wasn't a single option that could be definitively excluded, making this question impossible to answer so far.

And based on their usual test-taking experience, this situation meant they had definitely overlooked some crucial information.

So what had they missed?

They all started to think carefully.

"Stark, Captain, Thor, do you remember the images from the Civil War?"

After a moment, Black Widow's eyes flashed with a spark, as if she had thought of something. She glanced at the others and asked.

"The Civil War, of course I remember. What's up, Romanoff?" Thor asked curiously and expectantly. It seemed Romanoff must have recalled some useful clue.

"When Spider-Man, Peter Parker, showed up, he greeted everyone there and said he was a fan of the Captain… Do you remember how he greeted everyone?"

Black Widow recounted the events.

"Peter Parker was meeting everyone for the first time; he didn't know anyone!" Tony Stark was the first to realize something, seizing on the key point.

Everyone gave it some thought, and it was true. Spider-Man's behavior at the time indicated that he really didn't know anyone there.

He wasn't just meeting Captain America for the first time; he didn't know anyone else in the Iron Man camp either.

Then the question arose.

Why didn't he know them?

"Spider-Man isn't even part of the Avengers!" Tony Stark stated emphatically, "Otherwise, he wouldn't know everyone except me!"

"Then Spider-Man can be ruled out; the question is about the Avengers!" Hawkeye Barton's eyes lit up.

It has to be said, the setup of this question was very misleading. It made everyone instinctively assume from the start that all the options were Avengers.

But in fact, the question never explicitly stated that.

It was all due to everyone's fixed way of thinking.
