Chapter 323 - Just a Little More, and Thanos Would’ve Been Taken Out Early

From the previous questions, everyone already knew this:

On Titan, the Avengers—including Tony Stark and Doctor Strange—along with members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, had engaged Thanos in a massive battle.

They had even learned quite a few details about that fight.

Everyone knew that on Titan, the superheroes were badly beaten by Thanos—but what no one expected was that during that battle, the heroes actually had their own moment of glory.

They had almost managed to snatch Thanos's gauntlet away.

And at that time, Thanos had already collected four Infinity Stones.

If the gauntlet had truly been taken from him, his strength would have been drastically weakened!

If that had succeeded, it was entirely possible that battle would have been won—

Thanos could have been killed ahead of time!

Unfortunately, in the end, they fell just short.

"Everyone almost won on Titan? I never imagined something like that happened."

Thor spoke first in surprise, full of regret as he slapped his thigh.

"What a shame—such a damn shame!"

"The question already tells us why the operation failed," Iron Man curled his lips.

"Someone lost emotional control. Someone dragged the team down."

"The only question is—who was it?" Scott Lang also smacked his lips.

"Fortunately, it definitely wasn't me."

After answering questions for so long, everyone already knew exactly who had been present on Titan—and Ant-Man wasn't one of them.

However, all four people listed in the options were present.

"Let's analyze the question," Strange said calmly from his hospital bed.

"We'll figure out who it was soon enough."

He was very confident—it definitely wasn't him.

"We know quite a few details about the Titan battle," Captain America said while staring at the screen.

"But they don't really help us here, because we don't know how they tried to take the gauntlet."

"Without that information, we can't analyze this question at all."

"We don't even know whether all four people in the options actually participated in the gauntlet-snatching," Thor shrugged in agreement.

Silence fell over the room.

Captain America and Thor were absolutely right.

Logically speaking, solving this question required two steps.

The first step was determining who actually participated in the "Gauntlet Seizure."

Because nothing in the question stated that everyone in the options took part.

Without knowing any details of the gauntlet grab, every person in the options might have participated—or might not have.

Only after narrowing that down could they proceed to the second step: determining who lost emotional control.

Unfortunately, after discussing it, they couldn't reach any solid conclusions.

"Let's do this," Tony Stark finally said.

"There's no way we can determine who participated. There isn't a single detail supporting that analysis."

"So we'll have to assume that everyone in the options participated in the gauntlet seizure."

"But this isn't a blind assumption—it's a reasonable inference."

"On Titan, there was only one enemy: Thanos."

"When someone starts grabbing his gauntlet, everyone else would naturally join in."

"Everyone understands the strategic importance of the Infinity Gauntlet."

"That makes sense," Captain America nodded.

"With Thanos's strength, taking his gauntlet couldn't be done by one person—it required cooperation."

"We've also seen footage showing that Star-Lord and Stark made a battle plan after meeting on Titan."

"Could grabbing the gauntlet have been part of that plan?"

"Given Thanos's power, the plan must've involved multiple people."

"Of course," he added, "it's also possible that gauntlet-snatching wasn't part of the original plan."

"Someone may have decided on the spot—but even then, the others would almost certainly join in."

In short, regardless of whether the gauntlet grab was planned in advance or improvised, everyone on Titan would likely have participated.

After all—

There was only one enemy: Thanos.

When a group is fighting a single opponent—and everyone knows how critical the Infinity Gauntlet is—either no one tries to take it…

Or once someone does, everyone piles on.

This point was crucial.

"Wait—something's wrong!"

Peter Parker, who had been silent the whole time, suddenly spoke up.

"Mr. Stark, Captain—you're assuming Thanos was the only enemy. But can we actually be sure of that?"

"We've seen plenty of footage from the Titan battle," Thor recalled.

"In all of it, Thanos was the only enemy."

"But… we don't know how Thanos arrived on Titan."

"We only know the latter half of the battle—not the beginning."

That left two possibilities.

First: Thanos arrived alone.

If so, the heroes only ever faced one enemy.

Second: Thanos arrived with subordinates—but they were all wiped out before the later footage.

Since the early stages of the battle were never shown, no one knew which scenario was correct.

And if it was the second scenario, things got complicated.

Did the gauntlet seizure happen before or after Thanos's subordinates were eliminated?

There was no way to know.

And the answer would completely change the outcome.

After brief discussion, they were still stuck.

"There's one thing we do know," Strange said thoughtfully.

"In the Wakanda battle, when Thanos first appeared, Bruce Banner introduced him."

"That proves Thanos wasn't originally present in Wakanda."

"He likely used the Space Stone to teleport directly from Titan to Wakanda."

That much was easy to confirm.

After all, when Thanos snapped his fingers in Wakanda, Tony Stark and the others were still on Titan.

"So could the Titan battle have been the same?" Strange continued.

"Could Thanos have used the Space Stone to teleport there from another planet?"

It was possible—but no one could confirm it.

"At this point," Tony Stark concluded, "we have no choice but to assume all four people participated in the gauntlet seizure."

"Otherwise, this question can't be analyzed at all."

"Agreed," Peter Parker immediately supported his idol.

After brief discussion, everyone else agreed.

As Tony said—without that assumption, the question was unsolvable.

Even with that assumption, though, the question was still difficult.

They knew nothing about the details of the gauntlet seizure.

They were stuck—until they reread the question.

"'Because of emotional instability,'" Captain America said, scanning the group.

"Why would someone lose emotional control during a fight with Thanos?"

"I think that person must have had personal history with him."

"And having history with Thanos means they'd encountered him before," Thor's eyes lit up as he added.

"If that's the case," Scott Lang immediately said, "can we rule out A and B?"

Iron Man and Doctor Strange were Earth-bound.

Neither had ever left Earth before.

How could they possibly have personal grievances with Thanos?

That left Star-Lord and Drax—both seasoned space travelers.

They were far more likely to have past conflicts with Thanos.

"From this perspective," Strange nodded, "the answer can only be Star-Lord or Drax."

"It should be… Star-Lord," Tony Stark said, continuing the analysis.

"We don't know whether Drax had a grudge against Thanos—but Star-Lord definitely did."

"We already know Star-Lord came to Titan specifically to kill Thanos."

"And the reason was to rescue his woman."

"His woman was taken by Thanos."

That had been clearly shown in the Avengers vs. Guardians footage.

"Exactly," Captain America nodded.

"Star-Lord was searching for Gamora—but we already know she had been sacrificed by Thanos to obtain the Soul Stone."

"So when Star-Lord learned that Gamora was dead…"

"Losing emotional control would be completely understandable."

Logically, it made perfect sense.

"So… the answer is C, Star-Lord?" Peter Parker asked.

"The reasoning is a bit shaky," Scott Lang admitted, "but at this point, C is the only option."

To be honest, the analysis did have a flaw.

A key premise couldn't be confirmed:

Did all four people participate in the gauntlet seizure?

They had guessed and assumed.

Which meant the reliability of the conclusion wasn't perfect.

But even so—as Scott said—C was the only choice.

After a brief discussion, it was decided that Scott Lang would answer.

No one knew what the reward "Little Cricket" was.

But since the unit was "one," it clearly wasn't an insect—

It was an object.

What kind of object?

No one could guess.

They'd find out soon enough.

"I choose Star-Lord, Peter Quill!"

Scott Lang answered without hesitation.

[Correct Answer!]

It was right!

Scott Lang let out a huge sigh of relief.

Honestly, he hadn't been very confident.

[Congratulations to answerer Scott Lang for receiving the reward: Little Cricket, one unit!]

The moment the system announced it, something appeared in Scott's hand.

He looked down.

It was a completely silver gun.

"What the hell? This is Little Cricket?"

Scott blurted out.

A gun was already unexpected—but this thing was absurdly small.

It wasn't even as big as his palm.

"Such a tiny gun?" Peter Parker's eyes went wide.

"Mr. Scott, isn't that a toy?"

He knew the system wouldn't give a toy—

But this gun was way too small.

"Little Cricket is a gun? That's… a strange name," Thor muttered.

"But isn't it far too small?"

"Don't underestimate it," Scott said smugly.

"It may be small—but its firepower rivals a grenade."

"A gun this small has grenade-level power?!" Peter shouted in shock.

That was ridiculous.

The others were equally stunned.

"So basically," Captain America said, "this thing is a handheld grenade launcher?"
