Craig took a deliberate sip of his wine, letting the warmth and oakiness settle his thoughts. His hand lingered on the glass for a moment longer than necessary. "What do you mean, as in ?" he asked, raising a brow, trying to sound casual.

Adriana's lips pressed together, eyes narrowing slightly. "Don't," Her voice carried a brittle edge, the kind that came when something hit harder than expected. "Don't do that Craig."

He smirked faintly, leaning back in the chair, the movement effortless but deliberate. "You should see your face, Adri. Like I just confessed to murder."

Her eyes flashed, a mix of irritation and disbelief. "Are you messing with me right now?"

"Why would I joke about that?" His tone was light, almost teasing, but the faint clench in his jaw betrayed a hint of something deeper.
