Chapter 696 - Chapter 547.1

At the center, standing tall and lean with the wiry endurance of a mink sculpted by sea winds and high-altitude storms, King Volt Ostara—the Silver Fox of the Dawn—raises a ceramic cup of dark, robust highland coffee. His silver-grey fur catches the firelight, and his distinguished black teardrop markings beneath his amber-gold eyes are softened by a rare, solemn warmth. His tail, usually a sharp conductor of tactical thought, sways in a slow, rhythmic arc like a calm tide against the Eopolis Barrier Reef.

Beside him, Gaon Tote, the Beretitenti of Tikibara. Tote's lean, wiry frame is draped in his traditional white Ribua with dark blue wave patterns, and the luminescent Te Riananon coral pendant glows softly against his chest, catching the light like a memory of the glowing underbelly of his lost sky island. Tote's hands, callused from decades of weaving nets and operating Dials, rest quietly on the table. His right ear turns slightly toward the center

Near the edge, nursing her drink with a quiet, guarded detachment, is Dracule Marya Zaleska—her dark raven hair falling over her shoulers, her dual-colored eyes reflecting the flickering flames while the void-veins on her arms hum with silent, restrained power.

King Volt Ostara steps forward, adjusting his spectacles up his snout with a familiar, deliberate motion. The murmurs of the banquet slowly fade. When he speaks, his voice possesses that legendary, resonant depth—a cadence that merges poetry with the steady, unyielding rhythm of the Maigotsuki Minks

"You must be the one I have heard so much about," he said, his hazel eyes fixed on Marya. "And the reason we are gathered today."

Marya nodded, "It is nice to meet you."

Gaon, tense, a man who had lost everything. "So it was you who destroyed Tikibara."

Marya nodded, her voice flat. "It was."

Volt clapped Gaon on the shoulder. "Let us be grateful for what we are here to celebrate."

"Friends," Volt begins, his voice carrying effortlessly across the banquet hall, rich and unhurried like the deep currents of the Riftus Valle. His amber-gold eyes sweep across the group, lingering for a quiet, respectful second upon the weathered, high-altitude sun-etched face of Gaon Tote, before shifting to the imposing, silent presence of Marya and her crew, "it has been centuries since these halls have been visited by representatives from other tribes. This is a truly momentous occasion."

Volt lets the words hang, heavy in the air, a masterclass in the strategic silence that defines his rule. His tail flicks once, softly, to the left—not in deceit, but in the overwhelming weight of raw, unmasked truth "We stand tonight upon soil forged from an unyielding refusal to bow. When the heavens themselves cracked open—when the great coral disc of Tikibara descended upon us like the wrath of an ancient god, threatening to crush both our homes into a shared grave of pulverized stone—we braced for the end."

Volt takes a slow, deliberate breath, his open palms resting on the edge of the table. "I want to welcome and express my deepest appreciation for the unexpected arrival of our guests and their intervention that deflected an absolute travesty."

Volt turns his gaze directly toward Marya, his expression shifting from a sovereign ruler to a man speaking a profound, unvarnished reality. "Some look upon the ruins of Tikibara and see only displacement, slapping a cruel, hollow label upon you. But you are not mere refugees. You are a sky people who chose to walk upon solid ground so that your children might live to see another dawn."

Volt's gaze drifts momentarily toward the dark, obsidian-hilted blade resting against the table—Nisshoku—and the faint, terrifying aura of the Void-Mist that she carries like a second skin. He knows the cost of the path she walks. He knows what it means to bear a burden that chips away at the soul.

"And you," Volt continues, his voice dropping an octave, resonating with a profound, empathetic weight that bridges the chasm between human, Mink, and the wanderers of the sky. "Marya. You who cut through the sky to intercept a falling world—you did not come here seeking a crown, nor did you come seeking our gratitude. You bore the violence of that descent so that two peoples might live. The tree that falls still bears fruit. Tikibara is gone from the clouds, but its roots are now tangled deep within the sacred soil of Ushirika.

He spread his arms, his voice rising with the warmth of a man who had long ago accepted his role as the one who united. "We are different tribes—human and mink, coastal merchant and sky-dweller. But unity is not the absence of conflict; it is the container for it. Tonight, we do not break bread as hosts and guests, but as survivors of a changing world."

Beside him, Gaon Tote slowly raises his head. The lines on his gaunt face seem to lighten just a fraction, his weathered fingers gently brushing against the luminescent Te Riananon coral pendant on his chest. For a man who carries the crushing survivor's guilt of a fallen world, the sovereign of Ushirika's words do not offer empty pity—they offer something far greater. They offer dignity.

"We are different tribes," Volt concludes, raising his cup higher. "Human and Mink, coastal merchant and sky-dweller, those who bear the scars of the past and those who wield the storms of the future. But unity is not the absence of conflict; it is the container for it. Tonight, we do not break bread as hosts and guests. We break bread as survivors of a changing world."

Volt's eyes lock with Marya's across the table, fierce, tired, and unyielding.

"To the sky that raised you, to the earth that holds us, and to the quiet resolve of those who refuse to break—Karibuni nyumbani. Welcome home."

Queen Amaris gestured, "Please, sit."

Everyone pulled their chairs out and sat. Servers rushed out, placing plates of food in front of everyone. Each server stole a glance at Marya and her crew. One of them blushed at Atlas when he said thank you.

Everyone began to eat.

---

Bō-Zak sat across from General Tora Afar. He leaned forward, his gold-flecked eyes gleaming with the flirtatious warmth of a man who had never met a woman he didn't want to charm. "So, General. Did it hurt?"

Tora's brow furrowed, her dark eyes narrowing with confusion. "Did what hurt?"

Bō-Zak's grin widened. "When you fell from heaven?"

Nyx's head rocketed skyward on autopilot, locking his pitch-black stare onto Bō-Zak with the vacant, deer-in-the-headlights paralysis of a gambler watching a meteorite land squarely on his winning lottery tick.

Tora blushed, her voice dropping to a flustered mumble. "Um, well..."

Kaburo rolled his eyes and groaned, his dark hair falling across his face.

Iris giggled and turned her attention to Jannali. "How long will you be staying on the island?"

Jannali swallowed, "We are sticking around for a bit. Just one more thing we need to track down."

Iris nodded, "Maybe I can help."

Prince Nadir, sitting between Sanza and Atlas, struggled to contain himself. "So you really went up Reverse Mountain? I have only read about it. What was it like?"

Sanza nodded, his red hair flopping. "Yes, of course. Then we went through the mountain so we could get to the North Blue."

Jelly, ignored, had already eaten everything on his plate. He began stalking other people's plates, his translucent blue body moving with the silent grace of a fumbling predator.

Ember sat quietly, focused on her food, her mismatched eyes fixed on her dish.

Jelly locked in on a target. Like a cat tracking a mouse, he crouched and prepared to pounce.

Just as he was about to land, Ember pointed her fork at him. "Boom!"

Jelly had too much momentum to stop. He collided with the end of the fork and ignited, flying across the table with a squeal.

Jannali cursed as she saw him coming toward her. Gosan's head materialized from her staff, its massive beak snapping at the bouncing blue creature.

Jelly squealed as he bounced across the table, dodging Gosan's snapping jaws.

Jannali swatted at Gosan, her voice sharp with the frustration as she attempted to wrangle the chaos. "Pull ya head in, ya bloody dinosaur!"

Iris screamed as Jannali attempted to arm-wrestle Gosan.

Then General Tora screamed when Kalamaru's three-headed snake form lunged up onto the table. Its three heads snapped at the chaos, their eyes blazing with the fury of a creature that had been disturbed.

Kaburo's jaw flexed as he attempted to use his Haki to get Kalamaru under control. But the three-headed snake was attempting to eat Jelly, who was bouncing and running across the table, screaming.

As Vesta was attempting to explain her concert plans to Princess Vihaan with wild dramatic flair and Eliane was asking the young princess about her favorite pastry, Mikasi transformed from a guitar to a coyote, jumped onto the table, and ran down the center toward Jelly, snatching up Sanza's dinner roll on the way.

Sanza jumped up from his chair, his voice rising with the indignation of a child who had been robbed. "Hey! That's mine!"

But Mikasi had already swallowed it.

Princess Vihaan and Prince Nadir both sat in dazed confusion as the chaos continued to unfold.

Vesta jumped up from her seat and attempted to capture Mikasi, who was now dancing on the table with Jelly, cutlery flying, as they kicked it out of the way.

Kaburo attempted to meditate Kalamaru into submission. It was only partially working.

Jannali tried to arm-wrestle Gosan's dinosaur head while the Minks watched in stunned silence.

Bō-Zak continued to wink and flirt with General Tora Afar, who was to shocked to know how to respond.

Princess Vihaan began to giggle.

Prince Nadir jumped up and announced, "I want to be a pirate!"

But there was so much chaos that no one heard him.

---

At the other end of the table:

Gaon looked at King Volt. "Have you been able to determine the cause for so much destruction?"

Volt smiled with his customary charm, his voice warm with diplomacy. "We are still looking into it. The only reports we have are from the News Coo, which say that the World Government has fallen to the Revolutionary Army."

Gaon's voice was sharp with frustration. "While that may be true, that should not have been..."

Bianca interrupted. "It was like a resonance burst."

Everyone at this end of the table turned to her. Marya continued to sip her wine and dine on her fish, her golden eyes fixed on her plate with detached focus.

Queen Amaris leaned forward, curious. "Please, elaborate."

Bianca put her fork down. "So, like, I was on the sub when it went all, like, rubbery and stuff. But our, like, readings say that a massive impact, like, followed by, like, a resonance burst went through the core of the planet, and, like, then Reverse Mountain exploded. So then, like, there was this shockwave, and it, like, reset the whole planet. So, like, right now is like it was before, like, the Void Century."

Gaon swallowed, putting his fork and knife down. His voice was flat with disbelief. "You mean to say there were no sky islands before the Void Century?"

Bianca looked at him. "I, like, don't know about all of that. Maybe, like, there was no pyrobloin or whatever."

Gaon narrowed his eyes. "How does that even..."

Charlie cleared his throat, interrupting them. "If I may."

He paused, his finger rising in the air. "What my companion has concluded is accurate. There are several texts that validate pyrobloin as a product developed during the Void Century, separating the world. If we deduce that pyrobloin is an element that is produced and not organic in nature, then we can conclude that the sky islands were also manufactured."

Gaon's jaw flexed. "To what end?"

Charlie continued. "That is the ultimate question. And now that the ruins of the lost century, as well as the lost continent, have been revealed, we may be able to learn the purpose."

Gaon's eyes narrowed.

King Volt, sensing the mood, decided to change the subject. He turned his attention to Marya. "It is my understanding that your father is Dracule Mihawk, a Warlord."

Marya looked over the rim of her glass, pulling it away. "That is correct."

Gaon raised a brow. "A Warlord."

Marya tilted her head. "Prior Warlord. The World Government is no more."

Queen Amaris leaned forward. "What will you do next?"

"We are still searching for something."

King Volt perked up. "Oh, what is it?"

"We are looking for the location of a specific island."

Charlie chimed in, "Yes, I would like to revisit the Quiloa Ruins. There is a broken Poneglyph there I would like to study."

Queen Amaris asked, "What is on this island?"

Marya replied, "The Choros-Anemos."

King Volt, brow raised, "And what is this Choros-Anemos?"

Marya's tone was rye, "I don't really know."

King Volt chuckled.

Everyone's heads turned when Jelly and Mikasi, holding hands, danced toward them. They paused when they sensed Marya, Aurélie, and Galit glaring at them. They decided to take their dancing back down the table.

King Volt and Queen Amaris both chuckled when they noticed the chaos at the other end of the table.

King Volt replied warm with the approval. "This is certainly a lively group."

Atlas chuckled, "This is actually tame. We are trying to be respectful." He downed his drink.

Galit leaned forward, "The fallen sky people—will they stay, or will they relocate to another island?"

Gaon sighed, leaning back in his seat. "That is the question. Another island may lack infrastructure, so we would be starting completely over, which can be treacherous."

King Volt added. "However, this island may not be an ideal fit either, considering how far our resources will be stretched."

Galit asked, "Are you open to suggestions?"

Both Volt and Gaon nodded.

Galit continued. "Since the water has receded and ancient islands have been revealed, perhaps try to find an island that was once occupied and now abandoned."

Gaon leaned in. "And how would we find such an island? And then get there?"

Galit continued, "We have the ability to scan the area with our ship. We can find you some islands to choose from, and you can begin your search."

Gaon considered this.

Galit continued. "It is not an immediate fix, but it would be a direction to start exploring."

Aurélie added, "I can also reach out to the Consortium for support. They may also have some insights for aid."

Marya glanced up at her from her cutting into her fish. "Are you sure they won't be stretched too thin?"

Aurélie coked her head with a smirk, "I suspect this will be of interest to them and could be a priority.

Marya muttered, "I am sure it will be."

Charlie interjected, "That is a brilliant idea! I am sure they will want to be involved."

Volt, Amaris, and Gaon all asked in unison, "What is the Consortium?"

Charlie cleared his throat, his finger rising in the air as he launched into a lecture.

---

While Charlie rambled on, Vesta leaped across the table and finally captured Mikasi. "Gotcha!"

Mikasi wriggling in her arms, turned back into a guitar.

Atlas scoffed at Vesta, as she had spilled his drink and Jelly hopped away from the scene of the crime.

Vesta whispered to Atlas, "Sorry," as she slid off the table.

Marya, seizing the moment, asked Vesta, "Wasn't there something you wanted to ask?"

Vesta thought for a moment, then remembered when Aurélie said, "Concert."

Vesta perked up. "Oh, right!"

She stood up, holding her guitar, and looked at Amaris and Volt. "Mr. and Mrs. King and Queen, I would like to put on a concert for both the peoples of this island."

She struck a pose, waving an arching hand in the air. "I promise it will be epic!"

Amaris chuckled, her voice warm. "I think that is a great idea!"

Vesta bounced on the balls of her feet. "Isn't it? Music makes everything better!"

Gaon, unable to hold back a smirk, nodded. "The people need something to uplift their spirits."

Vesta jumped up. "Excellent! We will get started right away!"

Gaon turned to Galit, "And I would be interested in that list of islands you mentioned."

Galit nodded. "I will get started on it."

The banquet continued, chaos and order intertwined, as the world outside continued to break and remake itself.
