Chapter 30 - The New S Ranker

Regardless, I gathered my courage, smiled without answering their questions, and continued walking toward the entrance of the building. The reporters were then stopped by the bodyguards guarding the premises. Iris was now a bit distracted while talking on her phone, so I continued inside.

Upon entering, the people inside were curious about the commotion outside and soon realized it was just because of some celebrity.

But the real question was: what was I doing inside the Hunter Association headquarters?

I approached a vacant seat in front of a receptionist.

The receptionist looked a bit shocked when she saw me.

"You—you're Viola Silva!"

She seemed to recognize me, but after realizing she had acted unprofessionally, she quickly returned to a professional tone.

"What can I do for you, Miss Viola?"

"I'd like to register myself as a hunter, please."

She squealed. "Oh goodness! You awakened, Miss? This is big news!"

She squealed again and jumped out of her seat.

"Ahem, ahem. Sorry about that, Miss. It's just that I've always liked your characters in every film you're in, and I listen to your music too."

She blushed while speaking.

"Thank you. I'm really grateful for your support."

"Anyway, Miss Viola, can you please fill out this form so we can confirm your status and make a quick appraisal of your rank? We'll process it quickly so you can apply for a hunter license as soon as possible."

She handed me a paper, and I quickly filled it out. It was just a series of blanks asking for personal information, rank, and class.

After finishing, I handed it back to her. She glanced at the paper, and her eyes widened again. But unlike before, this reaction seemed doubtful rather than excited.

"Miss Viola… are you sure about this?"

"Yes," I answered without hesitation.

"Alright. Please wait here for a moment while I call my superior."

She hurried away, and minutes later, a tall, bulky man in a black suit followed her back, along with two others behind him.

He stood in front of me and asked, "Are you Viola Silva?"

"Yes, I am."

"Excuse us. I'm Henry Bach, supervisor of this branch. Could you follow us for a moment? We'll conduct your appraisal test immediately."

I agreed, and they led me to a large room. At the center stood a small slate pedestal with a ball embedded in the middle.

"Miss, please place your hand on the appraisal device."

I nodded, but before placing my hand on it, I touched the ring I was wearing.

I hope this works.

My hand touched the device, and my rank appeared:

S Rank [Healer]

It worked! That item worked! The Ring of Illusion I received upon awakening.

The people behind me looked excited upon seeing the result.

I removed my hand, and Henry approached me.

"Congratulations, Miss Viola. Getting your license won't be hard with your rank."

The rest of the day was quite hectic. News spread quickly, and the controversy surrounding Clyde was soon overshadowed by articles about me.

They allowed me to leave early and canceled all my schedules for the time being. It seemed they wanted the news to spread further to increase the value of my name.

But that was beyond my concern now, as I rushed home.

I quickly entered and immediately checked on Ezekiel.

I opened his room and saw him still sleeping. It seemed he still hadn't woken up. I felt a little sad, but there was nothing I could do.

I attended to him again, changed his IV, cleaned him with a wet towel, and dressed him in new clothes.

Afterward, I went to my room, only to find it in complete chaos.

Feathers from my pillow were scattered everywhere. My clothes, makeup, lotions, and skincare products were strewn across the room, and many containers were empty.

"You!"

I looked at the lizard lying in the middle of my bed, showing her tiny shiny belly, clearly the culprit behind the mess.

"What happened here?"

She looked at me.

"Where have you been? When I woke up, you were gone, and I was so hungry that I tried to look for food here."

"I saw these bottles, and they smelled sweet, so I drank some of them."

"You mean you ate some of these products?"

"Yeah, they tasted weird but yummy."

I had completely forgotten about this little guy. Yesterday, I placed her in a basket filled with soft bedding so she could sleep comfortably, but I ended up forgetting about her.

Why were yesterday and today so chaotic? I didn't even know what to prioritize anymore.

I suppressed my anger, realizing this mess was partly my fault.

"I'm sorry, little guy—"

"Elizabeth. My name is Elizabeth."

She interrupted me, clearly displeased at being called little guy.

"It's a great honor for you to even call me that, so you should be grateful for the rest of your life," she said smugly.

"Okay, Elizabeth. And I'm sorry, but those things you ate weren't food. Come downstairs, and I'll make you something to eat."

"What did you say? Those weren't food? But they tasted like candy," she replied innocently.

This great dragon should have known better, but being weakened and turned into a small creature seemed to have made her immature as well.

Instead of acting mighty, she now behaved like a baby dragon—cute and chubby.

Viola stared at her, struck by her cuteness, and picked her up.

Elizabeth resisted a little, but calmed down when Viola promised to make her some delicious food.

Downstairs in the kitchen, Viola cooked various dishes for Elizabeth, preparing fluffy scrambled eggs, sliced grilled chicken, warm rice, and a small bowl of vegetable soup.

The little dragon's eyes sparkled as the aroma filled the room, her tail wagging impatiently while she waited to eat.
