The Imperial City under the night sky revealed a quiet beauty, making Zuko feel both familiar and strangely distant.
For a moment, many memories flooded his mind, stirring emotions deep in his chest—
He had returned.
He had imagined many versions of his return, but overthrowing Ozai's rule had never been one of them.
When he first heard this plan from Iroh, he could hardly believe it.
Fortunately, he was no longer the naïve boy he once was.
In the years spent traveling the world in search of the Avatar, he had learned much, faced danger, thought deeply, and grown.
By now, he felt confident he could finally answer Kahn's question—one of the reasons he chose to come back.

Under the cover of night and drifting clouds, Nike successfully brought Zuko to the agreed meeting point with Kahn.
It was an ordinary stretch of wilderness—nothing remarkable.
After scanning the surroundings, Zuko asked, "What should we do now?"
Nike answered, "Kahn said to wait here. He's already arranged someone to pick you up."
Zuko nodded. Though he still felt a few lingering questions, he trusted that if Kahn arranged it, there would be no issues.
Then, to Zuko's surprise, Nike once again split apart and transformed back into East, South, West, and North, immediately beginning to play with each other as if the night was their personal playground.
Zuko watched the four little spirit forms with curiosity.
Their dreamlike, ethereal appearance—and the fact they could talk and transform—was fascinating.
It was his first time seeing real spirits… yet for Kahn, legendary spirits were just companions.
Paired with Kahn's strange abilities and the unbelievable plan he was now involved in, Zuko couldn't help but sigh—
He was the one who had traveled the world, yet somehow it felt like Kahn had lived an even bigger life.
"Wait. Spirit Lords, quiet. Something's coming."
Suddenly, he heard movement in the brush. Uncertain whether it was friend or foe, Zuko immediately raised his guard.
A figure burst out of the bushes, launching a flying kick straight at Zuko's face.
Zuko's heart seized, but he had been prepared.
He dodged quickly and countered with a punch—only for the attacker to twist mid-air, grab his wrist, and flip around for another strike.
Zuko blocked with his forearm and shook the other person back.
He was just about to counter when the attacker landed gracefully and said with a familiar mocking tone.
"Your skills have improved a bit, it seems. Looks like I won't have to hand you over to Father Emperor for now."
"…Azula?"
Moonlight pierced the clouds, illuminating the newcomer's face. With that well-known wicked smile, it was unmistakably her.
Relief swept over Zuko, though he immediately frowned.
"You're still the same. If I had reacted with Firebending, wouldn't you have been in danger?"
"Using Firebending right now would only prove you're still an idiot," Azula replied with a scoff.
"And what made you think your Firebending could hurt me?"
Zuko sighed. "Forget it. I don't want to argue with you."
"It seems our Zuzu has become soft and obedient. How touching."
Zuko's temple twitched.
"Alright, since someone doesn't want to see his sister at all—"
"I say, have you two talked enough?"
A graceful figure stepped out of the bushes, interrupting Azula without hesitation.
Azula's face immediately darkened.
"You really ruined the entrance I planned."
"That's because your entrance was too long-winded."
Azula, for once, had no retort.
"So… I guess I don't need to hide anymore."
Another petite figure slipped out from behind the trees and waved cheerfully.
"Long time no see, Zuko."
But Zuko barely heard her. His attention was entirely locked on the second girl who had stepped out.
She was taller now, more beautiful, but her calm expression was the same as ever.
Mai.
Mai walked right past Azula and stopped in front of Zuko, staring at him.
"Don't you have anything to say, Prince?"
"Mai, I… I—"
He had practiced dozens of heartfelt lines in his mind, but now all that spilled out was stammering.
Finally, he took a breath and spoke honestly.
"I really missed you."
Mai's lips curved into a tiny, fleeting smile before her expression returned to its cold sharpness.
"What I hate most," she said, "are people who only talk empty words."
Zuko panicked. "I wasn't! I really—mmph—"
Mai shut him up directly.
"!!!"
Ty Lee gasped, immediately covering her face—while peeking through every gap between her fingers.
Azula turned away, disgusted. This was far worse than Mai's earlier retort.
And involuntarily, an image of Kahn flashed in her mind—making her heart ripple unexpectedly.
Far away, Kahn instantly shut down Heavenly Eye Vision.
Absolutely not. That scene was a direct attack on his worldview.
Sometimes, the difference between people… was greater than the difference between people and dogs.
After a long moment, the two finally separated. Mai looked at the dazed Zuko and allowed a genuine, almost soft smile to show.
"Still don't get it? Actions speak louder than words, you idiot."
Azula, hearing that, perked up and secretly memorized the line.
This technique… seemed extremely useful.
Azula felt she had learned a very important knowledge point.
