Iroh slowly processed the astonishing information Kahn had revealed. Compared to how others might react, he accepted it surprisingly quickly.
This was because Kahn had mentioned details about the Fire Nation Royal Palace and his life there—details Iroh knew intimately.
If even a single word had been false, he would have noticed instantly. That alone told him Kahn wasn't lying.
"A parallel world… what a marvelous existence," Iroh murmured before asking, "Then why did you come to this world?"
"I'm not too sure about that either."
Kahn scratched his cheek, choosing not to tell Iroh the truth.
He actually wanted to ask about Azula, but now wasn't the right time—and he really didn't want Iroh digging too deeply into that topic.
So instead, he said, "Anyway, I'm currently with the Avatar and his group, responsible for teaching him Firebending."
"…The Avatar is also in Yonggu City?"
Zuko had been lying on the bed with his eyes closed, unmoving even as Kahn explained the unbelievable parallel-world situation, almost as if unconscious.
But the moment he heard "the Avatar," his eyes snapped open.
Kahn asked, speechless, "What, do you still want to capture him?"
"No… I don't want to capture him anymore..."
Zuko looked exhausted just speaking those few words, and after forcing them out, he closed his eyes again.
Seeing this, both Kahn and Iroh showed relieved smiles. Progress was progress.
Returning to the main topic, Kahn explained the problems he discovered in Yonggu City and his investigation into the Dai Li.
After listening, Iroh mused, "I see. I know some information about the Dai Li—their true leader, and the mastermind behind preventing you from meeting the Earth Kingdom's Old Emperor. As far as I know, it should be Prime Minister Chang Feng, the Lord of Agni Kai."
"As for the location where they conduct their brainwashing, I only know it's said to be within Lake Laogai, but what it's like inside is unknown."
"That's enough!"
Kahn lit up in surprise. Getting two solid answers so easily was more than enough.
But he then asked, puzzled, "Since you know the Earth Kingdom Old Emperor is being deceived by villains, why doesn't the White Lotus intervene?"
"That would be overstepping," Iroh replied.
He shook his head and explained, "The White Lotus's responsibility is to secretly maintain the balance of the Four Nations, so we resist the Fire Nation's aggression. But the internal affairs of each nation are not to be interfered with. That is a fundamental White Lotus rule."
"Perhaps helping the Earth Kingdom royal family would be beneficial right now, but if we break our principles once, the long-term consequences outweigh any short-term gain."
Kahn nodded. Iroh smiled faintly and added, "But you don't need to consider all that. So I'll leave this matter to you."
"Of course. It's something we were going to do anyway."
After acquiring the intelligence he wanted, Kahn didn't leave immediately. Instead, the two continued chatting.
"Oh, by the way, Uncle Iroh—you and Zuko should take a look at this. It might be a good reference."
Kahn pulled a scroll from his pocket and handed it over. Iroh opened it, and his eyes widened.
"The Fire Dragon Dance? Where did you get this?"
"I found it in the Spirit of Knowledge's library. Luckily it wasn't burned down."
Kahn shrugged, casually telling the story of how General Zhao burned the library. Iroh felt both indignant and enlightened.
"So that's how he learned those things from the library."
He had witnessed Zhao's attack on the Northern Water Tribe.
At the time, he wondered how Zhao knew about the Moon Spirit and Ocean Spirit. Now he had his answer.
And this Fire Dragon Dance scroll—rare, ancient, and priceless—was especially valuable for Zuko right now.
The fact that Kahn gave it so casually only reinforced that his earlier claims were genuine.
"Speaking of which," Kahn said suddenly, "Uncle Iroh from my world told me something before. He told me that after I began traveling, I should visit the ruins of the Ancient Sun Warriors. What's there exactly?"
The Ancient Sun Warriors were the earliest Firebenders, long believed extinct, and their homeland nothing more than ruins.
Kahn joked, "You're not going to keep me in suspense too, are you?"
Iroh was surprised that his counterpart in another world had entrusted Kahn with even this secret—a secret not even this world's Zuko knew.
But looking at the Fire Dragon Dance scroll, Iroh chuckled.
"I should continue to keep you in suspense, but since you've already learned the Fire Dragon Dance, there's no point hiding it anymore."
He explained that despite the world believing the Ancient Sun Warriors and fire dragons were extinct—especially fire dragons, which were rumored to have been eliminated by him—the truth was different.
The Ancient Sun Warriors still lived secretly in their homeland, and the last fire dragons were alive as well.
The story that Iroh killed them wasn't true—he had escorted the last two fire dragons to the Sun Warriors for protection.
"My counterpart probably wanted you to learn the Fire Dragon Dance from the Sun Warriors. But you found another way, discovering the scroll yourself."
Iroh sounded both helpless and amused.
Kahn, meanwhile, felt a surge of excitement.
Living fire dragons. Two of them.
Who wouldn't want to see that?
And since the Fire Dragon Dance was created by imitating the dragons' movements—just like how Toph created her Earthbending style by learning from the badgermoles—Kahn couldn't help wondering if he could create his own Firebending technique someday.
The two talked until evening, and Iroh even shared his own life experiences.
Kahn finally understood how events in this world had unfolded compared to his own.
Kahn thought for a moment and said, "So, Uncle Iroh… you still don't know that Azulon was personally killed by Ozai, and that Ozai altered his will to ascend to the throne, do you?"
"Ah?"
Iroh froze. The blank look on his face confirmed he truly didn't know.
After a long moment, he sighed with a bitter smile. "So that's how it was."
It was too late to change anything, but learning the truth still resolved years of unanswered doubts.
Then Iroh looked at him and asked, confused, "But how did you know such secrets?"
"Azula told me… uh…"
Kahn answered instinctively—then immediately realized he'd slipped.
Sure enough, Iroh's expression sharpened with suspicion.
"Azula? You and her?"
