Chapter 331 - Third Intermission - My World, My Heroes Part 6

After dinner, I did more research about Pick Me Up.

I read more guides, looked up the skills of my heroes, and few things I needed to pay attention to in regards of my immediate plans for my lobby.

Apparently my 1-star heroes had obtained some rare skills for themselves.

The Composure skill the 1-star Jonah obtained promotes fear resistance.

It could evolve into Combat Logic which then could evolve into the Enlightened Mind, an ultimate skill which prevents all mental debuffs.

I would no longer have to worry of him being afraid in battle anymore.

Meanwhile, Shanny's Savage could convert her rage into bonus strength.

That skill would help buffing her low 1-star stats. And apparently Savage was also compatible with multiple high-grade skills which could be combined and evolved together.

The official forum stated that the possibility of 1-star heroes in acquiring these two skills were very slight.

Typically, only 3-star and 2-star heroes would obtain them. While 4-star heroes and above usually already possessed the evolved skills upon summoning.

If these two 1-star heroes of mine developed properly, then they could become very strong.

Jonah and Shanny had definitely become the heroes that I would pay attention to the most other than the 4-star Serafina.

Speaking of the mage, I already looked up her skills.

4-star heroes were definitely in a different league from 1-stars.

The descriptions of her skill set in the official forum were quite extensive.

Depending on its level, Telekinesis allowed object and environment manipulation. Intermediate Fire Magic enabled high damage AoE assaults with burn effect. Intermediate Enchantment enabled the mage to cast buffs and other specific uses. Hands that Twists Space and Time enabled the mage to create portals to summon items from the Weapon Storage. And more specific abilities from the other skills.

This 4-star Serafina was quite an all-rounder.

She was both a DPS and a support unit.

I still needed to test out her support skills, but Serafina had proven herself to be reliable with her offensive moves.

The guides warned that the skill levels still possessed broad spectrum on their own.

Two mages both with level 5 in Intermediate Fire Magic might have different performances in battle.

One hero might have great firepower but low casting-rate. While the other the opposite.

Serafina had shown herself to be excellent in both aspects, however.

That was just the trait of a 4-star hero.

I had been researching on the possible skills that Serafina's current ones could evolve into.

But the guides said 4-star hero typically only developed their skills beyond the tenth floor.

The challenges in the lower floors simply were not enough to push such advanced hero to the limit of their skill evolution.

Apparently the first ten floors of the Main Dungeon were used mainly to develop 1-star and 2-star heroes.

According to Loki, most hero progressions between those floors came from those low-ranked heroes.

Then I supposed I should be focused on doing that for now.

It was getting late but I wanted to sneak one more session before I go to sleep.

I wanted to level up my 1-star heroes a bit and replace the ones that I lost in my grind session earlier.

It had been four hours since I logged off.

The guides said four to six hours were enough to replenish the heroes' energy after grinding. But that was only if the lobby had suitable Lodging facility where heroes could rest properly.

It was funny that the game was programmed this way. As if the heroes were real people that needed actual sleep and rest after a long day of hard work.

A nice thoughtful design by the developers.

My facility was up to standard and I had given enough time away from the game.

So my heroes should be ready to fight again.

[Welcome to Pick Me Up!]

Last time I summoned a 3-star crafter to the lobby and assigned him to the Equipment Workshop along with the 1-star crafters I recruited earlier.

We obtained some crafting materials after clearing the first floor. So I wondered if the crafters had started working already.

[Master, there are new equipment in the Weapon Storage.]

Ooh, nice!

A few weapons had been added now.

[Sharp Long Spear]

[Rank: C]

[Good!]

[Despite using poor materials, it was crafted with proper techniques by a skilled craftsman and strengthened with mana by a skilled mage. Sharper, lighter, and more durable than the common spears.]

[Strengthened Long Sword]

[A well-crafted basic iron sword which blade was strengthened with mana by a skilled mage. Sharper, lighter, and more durable than the common swords.]

[Reinforced Wooden Shield]

[Rank: C]

[Good!]

[Despite using poor materials, it was crafted with proper techniques by a skilled craftsman and strengthened with mana by a skilled mage. More durable than other shields made with the same materials.]

C-rank equipment.

Usually players would only start using this type of gears starting from the sixth floor.

But apparently players could also sort of cheat their way through crafting by playing a minigame.

They could create weapons without needing the necessary workers in the facility, hence obtaining them earlier.

But the forum said the minigame could become ridiculously difficult and you might risk losing the used materials upon a failed attempt.

I decided not to dabble with that feature since I was not particularly good with those types of arcade minigames.

My eyes and hands simply could not keep up that I always messed up no matter how simple the gameplay was.

It was a weird flaw considering you would need good memory and motoric skills to become a ranker in Warmonger as well.

So getting a 3-star crafter to do all these work was definitely nice.

And from the items' description, it seemed my 4-star mage was also involved in crafting them.

It must be her Intermediate Enchantment skill. The guides stated that mages with such skills could also cast buffs on weapons.

I loved seeing offline progressions like this.

What else happened while I was away?

Did my heroes perhaps develop their skills?

Jonah was still the same as when I saw him last.

But there were some progressions to the other 1-stars.

[Shanny Plum (★) Lv.2 (Exp 2/20)]

[Class: Novice]

[Strength: 12/12]

[Intelligence: 10/10]

[Stamina: 10/10]

[Agility: 12/12]

[Skills: Basic Swordsmanship Lv.1, Basic Shield Technique Lv.1, Savage Lv.1]

Oh wow…

Shanny already developed two skills in the span of few hours.

Even though Basic Swordsmanship and Basic Shield Technique would usually combine into one integrated skill, it was still amazing that this 1-star managed to develop them at such short time.

What about the other one?

[Trudy Calle (★) Lv.1 (Exp 5/10)]

[Class: Novice]

[Strength: 10/10]

[Intelligence: 10/10]

[Stamina: 10/10]

[Agility: 10/10]

[Skills: Basic Shield Technique Lv.1]

She managed to develop one skill.

It was a defensive ability, but it was alright.

This hero at least had some improvement.

The AI system of this game was truly something, however.

Each individual hero was programmed in a way that they behaved and progressed differently from one another.

I looked forward to explore this part of Pick Me Up.
