Suddenly, Darian realized that everything around him was frozen.
Time had stopped. The people beside him had turned to stone. Inside the barrier, everyone was still staring at them with disdain, as if they had already won. Even the energy flowing through the barrier was completely still.
Darian asked seriously, "Who are you?"
"I'm just a remnant of will. The only one who can still talk to you. When I was alive, they called me the Deity of the Rainbow Cranes," that soft voice answered.
Darian watched the light of the barrier shift suddenly. It looked like strips of fabric; they condensed into the form of a beautiful Crane with multicolored feathers. It was a creature that naturally gave off a familiar feeling. It had no predator aura, and it wouldn't make anyone uncomfortable.
Only the two of them could move. The moment it formed, that figure's gaze locked onto Darian, evaluating him.
Darian felt clear hostility in that look. It lasted only a second before disappearing.
