Chapter 58 - Eve of the World War

WORLD ENEMY APPEARS ON THE LAND OF SOLCENDRIA

SIX CONTINENTS EDITION — Published by the Central Government Authority

Several days after the official designation of a fugitive as the World Enemy to be executed for the preservation of global peace, the latest reports state that the individual has appeared on the land of Solcendria.

According to reports from local villagers, the figure declared as the World Enemy is seen walking through a small village in the Solcendria region in the morning. There is no attempt to conceal identity. After passing through the village, the individual moves toward a vast green field located far from rural areas and civilian settlements.

Residents who witness the fugitive's presence immediately report the incident to the nearest governmental authority. The information is relayed through the military and administrative communication channels prepared since the announcement of the World Enemy status by the central government some time earlier.

The Solcendria regional government responds quickly to the report. Within a short time, military units stationed closest to the location are deployed toward the reported position.

The first units to move consist of Infantry, Cavalry, and Witcher divisions under the military command of Solcendria. Thousands of soldiers begin advancing toward the green field to ensure the fugitive cannot leave the area before an official decision is made.

Not long after, official notification regarding the presence of the World Enemy in Solcendria spreads across all continents through the central government's communication network.

Reports received by the editorial office state that nearly all continents respond immediately.

Several regional governments dispatch additional forces to ensure that the capture or execution operation proceeds without obstruction. High-speed military carriage convoys are reported moving toward Solcendria from various directions since early morning.

As time approaches midday, the number of troops arriving at the location continues to increase.

Forces from many continents finally gather at the same point, surrounding the green field where the World Enemy stands. Infantry lines form the outer circle, while Cavalry and Witcher units are positioned at several strategic points to anticipate possible resistance.

Military observers present at the site report that the assembled forces reach thousands of soldiers from various regions of the world.

The presence of such a large number of troops is intended to ensure there is no possibility for the fugitive to escape.

Among the gathered forces, several logistics units are seen carrying a wooden structure later identified as an execution post. The structure is placed not far from the center of the field, in an area visible to all the assembled troops.

However, until the publication of this report, no official executioner has been appointed to carry out the execution.

All forces remain in their positions, forming a massive circle beneath the open sky of Solcendria. Commanders appear to be waiting for the final decision to be made by the individual declared as the World Enemy.

The central government, through its official statement, declares that the situation has reached a decisive point.

According to the statement, there are only two possible outcomes from the event currently unfolding on the green field of Solcendria.

The first possibility is that the World Enemy chooses to surrender peacefully to the assembled forces. If this decision is taken, the execution process will proceed according to the agreement made by the authorities of the six continents in order to preserve world stability.

The second possibility is that the World Enemy refuses to surrender and chooses to resist the assembled forces.

If that occurs, the event now unfolding in Solcendria will transform into an open conflict between an individual declared a global threat and the combined armies of multiple continents.

Until the moment this report is released, the figure standing at the center of the green field has not issued any official statement regarding the decision.

All forces remain on high alert, waiting for the next action that will determine the direction of the event.

Thus, the final decision now rests entirely in the hands of the one declared as the World Enemy.

The decision will determine whether the events on the land of Solcendria today end in surrender… or transform into an open war that will influence the fate of the world.

Johan sits inside a carriage moving toward the Kingdom of Gaelvorn. Simple clothing conceals identity, enough for anyone who sees him to assume he is merely an ordinary passenger.

A newspaper rests in his hand.

The carriage moves steadily along the main road. The sound of wooden wheels turning and the rhythm of the horses' steps repeats outside.

Johan studies the contents of the newspaper for a few seconds longer. Then the corner of his lips lifts.

A faint laugh escapes him.

"What is this… appearing this early?" he murmurs quietly.

His eyes move again across the final lines of the article, then he gives a small shake of his head.

"What are you planning…?" he says again, this time in a lower tone.

The newspaper folds slowly and lowers onto his lap.

His head turns toward the carriage window.

The landscape of the land continues moving past his view. Fields, dirt roads, several small villages that appear peaceful in the distance.

Yet his expression does not change.

"So the story ends today," he murmurs.

His eyes narrow slightly, as if imagining something only he understands.

"I did not expect time to pass this quickly…"

He leans back comfortably in the carriage seat.

"I was actually hoping the game would last a little longer."

A faint smile appears again.

"But it does not matter."

Johan's gaze remains fixed outside the window.

"Soon… the real performance begins."

The carriage continues moving toward Gaelvorn, unaware of who truly sits silently inside.

---

Time continues to pass.

I stand in the middle of a vast field on the land of Solcendria. The place lies far from villages and civilian settlements. Only green grass stretches toward the horizon.

The field is no longer empty.

Thousands of soldiers from many continents stand surrounding me.

Their formation creates a massive circle that grows tighter with time.

Banners from different regions wave among them. Weapons are raised. Armor glitters under the sunlight.

I stand alone at the center of it all.

One marshal steps forward from the front line.

"Surrender, boy!" he shouts, his voice echoing across the entire field.

Another marshal steps forward.

"For the peace of the world!" he shouts. "Your death will not be in vain!"

Another voice rises from a different side.

"This long day does not need to become chaos!" he calls. "Surrender yourself now!"

Dozens of marshals step down from their lines.

Behind them, Infantry stand in the foremost line with spears and swords raised.

Behind the Infantry, Cavalry wait atop their horses, ready to move at any moment.

Further back, the Witchers stand in organized rows, holding their bows.

An enormous circle of troops.

And at the center stands only me.

From afar, hundreds of soldiers carry something toward my direction.

A large wooden post.

An execution post.

They lift it together and walk slowly toward the center of the field.

Several marshals move closer.

Their steps stop shortly afterward.

I look around once more.

Forces from many continents.

Their number nearly reaches hundreds of thousands.

The entire world stands here to witness the end of my life.

This… must be the final obstacle of my life.

I raise my head toward the sky.

A long breath fills my lungs.

Then it leaves slowly.

All eyes fix on me.

Everyone waits for the words that will leave my mouth.

My head lowers briefly.

Then rises again.

Another breath fills my lungs, preparing my voice.

The shout comes with all the strength I possess.

"I DECLARE… WAR!!!"
