Rachel bit her lip and exhaled softly. "So, where is he now?"
"If Miss Diaz wants to see Master Jeffrey, I can take you to him downstairs shortly," Finn replied politely.
Rachel froze, stunned. She hadn't expected Finn's car to already be waiting downstairs. Did Jeffrey anticipate this?
Did he know that once she found out where Sister Lauren and Liam were, she'd come to him for help?
It felt as if she had been caught in a web he had spun long ago, one she couldn't escape from no matter how hard she tried.
"Alright, I understand," Rachel said quietly, slipping her phone into her bag.
By the time she returned to her desk, the office was already buzzing with the sound of chairs scraping and coworkers chatting as they packed up to leave.
She quickly gathered her things, making sure to time her exit perfectly so she wouldn't need to ask for leave.
