In tbe moment, Jeffrey totally regretted asking Rachel to come over and cook. Seeing her hurt because of some stupid soup made his chest feel tight.
"Just keep your hand under the water. I'll deal with the soup," he told her, his voice a little rough.
"You will?" she replied, her eyes wide with surprise.
"Is that a problem?" he shot back, already walking over to the pot.
He lifted the lid, looked inside, and started adding some seasoning. He even scooped a little out to taste it before finally turning off the heat.
His movements were so smooth and practiced, it was like Rachel was watching some fancy chef on a cooking show.
But the whole time he was messing with the soup, Jeffrey kept glancing over at her, checking to make sure she was still holding her hand under the cold water like he told her to.
After like ten whole minutes, he finally let her take her fingers out of the icy water. They were still a little red, but it didn't look too bad.
