Finn didn't dare to ask any more questions. He just started the car and slowly drove them out of the modest neighborhood.
Jeffrey leaned his head back against the seat, looking utterly weary as he gently closed his eyes.
Just a moment ago, when he had seen her, his empty, aching heart had felt like it was being filled, little by little, with a fragile sense of peace.
But the second she disappeared from his sight, that feeling vanished, and his heart felt hollow and empty all over again.
So... she could still so easily stir his emotions, bring him a fleeting moment of joy, and then just as easily leave him feeling completely lost and desolate.
Was it really, truly impossible for him to ever stop loving her?
"Finn," Jeffrey's voice suddenly cut through the heavy silence in the car, "do you think I still love Rachel?"
Finn's entire body stiffened, feeling like this question was a massive trap he did NOT want to step into!
