"You… how did you get in here?" Rachel stared at Garrett Vincent in complete shock. As he stepped closer, she could see he'd lost weight.
He looked tired.
His right hand was wrapped in a white bandage.
Rachel remembered, Jeffrey had broken Garrett's hand when he took her. "How's your hand?" she asked, genuine concern slipping into her voice.
"It's fine. Just a minor injury," he said, brushing it off. His eyes, however, were intense. "Finding you was the hard part. I only got a lead yesterday, when Master Yeung was brought here."
Garrett's gaze darkened with worry as he studied her face. "Did he… did he bring you here and make things difficult for you?"
"No," Rachel shook her head quickly, but her expression shifted almost imperceptibly as a flood of recent memories, Jeffrey's confession, his touch, his kneeling form surfaced in her mind.
