Chapter 215 - 211: +1 to the Harem

[+1 to the King's Wife stat. Congratulations, you have another companion willing to spend her life with you.

+5 to Stamina.]

This isn't the first time I've seen a notification like this from the system. Come to think of it, it's already the seventh time. Which means I've won the hearts of seven beautiful women who have accepted me for who I am, flaws and all.

Some might say I don't deserve their love, and that a man who can't be faithful to just one woman should be avoided... Well, I couldn't refute such a statement, for I myself understand that I'm not the ideal person worth dreaming about.

And yet, they chose me, which means there's something in me worthy of their love. And the only thing I can do is not lose what they loved me for. Looking at Alison's face peacefully sleeping next to me, her disheveled hair, slightly smudged mascara, her gentle smile through her sleep—it seems she's dreaming something pleasant—I realize that I'm the happiest person in the whole wide world. But then I remember that I live in a universe of crazy people with superpowers, and the degree of euphoria begins to wane. Ah, am I worrying too much? Perhaps... It's just that the more lovers I have, the more responsibility I have.

They've trusted me, and I'll do anything to protect them. It doesn't matter if it's Thanos, Darkseid, Galactus, or a simple robber with a gun in an alley. I won't forgive myself if something happens to them. For me, these beautiful women are the best motivation for seeking power.

Now it's not so much about surviving myself that matters to me, but about protecting them. Admittedly, I don't particularly want to die either, so I should try twice as hard. As if sensing my tireless gaze, Alison Blaire slowly opened her eyelids.

She looked at me and smiled happily. "Good morning," the girl whispered barely audibly. "Merry Christmas?"

"Merry Christmas, my charming Dazzler," I replied, stroking her mascara-smeared face with my palm.

"Stop it," she removed my hand as soon as she noticed the black stains on the white sheets. "Am I completely ugly?"

"Not a bit... You're as beautiful as Christmas morning."

"Ha-ha, I can't, stop this sentimentality…"

Yesterday's concert went off perfectly, not even a single Gotham terrorist tried to disrupt it by blowing up the stadium - which was good news. Perhaps I should thank the Dark Knight for this, who volunteered to personally oversee this. And thanks to a quiet evening, Christmas greeted me with "Dazzling" colors.

After basking for a couple more minutes on the soft bed, we finally got up and freshened up. I made a light breakfast while Alison took a shower, her enchanting voice singing "Firework" lighting up the entire apartment.

"It smells wonderful," the girl sat down at the table, having finished her shower.

"The main thing is that it tastes just as wonderful," I placed a plate of banana pancakes in front of her. Stacked in a tower and drizzled with syrup, these dense round flatbreads are a traditional American breakfast dish.

"I never thought I'd spend Christmas morning with you," Alice said thoughtfully, taking a bite of a pancake.

"Why not?"

"Perhaps because I'm not the only one who could count on it." Alison was well aware that I was far from alone. Naturally, she was curious why I didn't celebrate Christmas with the other girls. Actually, it's simpler than it might seem. We made a joint decision to celebrate this holiday a day later than the others.

The whole point is that the girls wanted to spend Christmas with their families, and I wholeheartedly supported their wish. I myself couldn't be with them at that time, because I couldn't divide myself into several parts, so I had to postpone the celebration. I told Alison about all this, who was tucking into breakfast so deliciously.

"In that case, I should also postpone opening Christmas presents," she said decisively. "Then what are your plans for today?"

"Hm... I was thinking of stopping by Babylon to find out how the research was progressing."

"Babylon? You never told me what kind of research was being conducted there. Maybe you'll tell me now, or do you still not trust me?"

"If I didn't, this conversation would never have happened..." I didn't hide the secrets of the secret laboratory from Alison and told her in detail how our valiant scientists had developed the super-soldier serum and were now hard at work studying the planet's mystical vein. My story somewhat confused the girl, causing her to think deeply about something.

"Alex, what will happen if someone like me takes this serum?" She asked a rather interesting question.

"You mean... a mutant?"

"Yes. Will it work?"

"I don't know. We haven't experimented with mutant blood yet. I think there might be side effects... But as I said, this issue is little studied. I believe Dr. Rao has already thought about this, but practical research is still a long way off, besides, we don't have mutant DNA. For now, we can only theorize."

"I have the necessary mutagen in my blood, and you have the necessary lab. It would be foolish not to take advantage of this. I am ready to share my DNA for all the necessary research. And it's not that I want to test the super-soldier serum... I want to help you. I am strong, Alex…"

"I know…"

"No, you don't…Even I don't know the limits of my powers. Sometimes it worries and scares me to death."

Alison, I do know what you are capable of. I saw it in the pages of comics. Your power goes far beyond the Alpha class and is almost comparable to the Omega mutants. Galactus himself once admired the abilities of the gifted singer and even shared his cosmic power with her, temporarily making her one of his heralds. But telling the girl about this would clearly be unnecessary.

There's no point in frightening her even more, for she might refuse to use her powers altogether.

"Alex, if my blood can help you and those who need help in this hour of great crisis... Please, use it," she seemed unwavering in her decision.

"Are you sure?"

"Well, I'm not suggesting experimenting on myself, just taking a little bit of my DNA. I don't think that's so scary."

"I'd argue with that. You don't know how terrifying Kavita would be if you offered her such a tempting gift."
