Michael could only smile wryly at Xenovia's blunt answer.
"I can only apologize. …After God was destroyed, only the 'System' governing blessings, mercy, and miracles remained. The 'System' is what causes God's miracles. God created the 'System' to perform miracles on Earth. Exorcists, crosses, and other holy objects use the 'System's' power."
"And because God is gone, something went wrong?" Arthas asked.
"Yes. It's difficult for anyone but God to control the 'System.' We Seraphim have barely managed to activate it… but the blessings and mercy reaching believers are less effective than when God was alive. Only a limited number can be saved."
Because God was gone, only a limited number could be saved.
"We needed to keep things that could affect the 'System' away from the Church. That includes some Divine Dividing Class weapons… including Asia Argento's 'Twilight Healing' and the 'White Dragon Emperor's Wings.'"
"Divine Dividing Class weapons, questioning God's existence… these things can't be near the Church. We prohibit executions to protect innocent lives. Most heretics are exiled."
Michael bowed apologetically to Asia, Irina, and Xenovia.
The three were speechless. Xenovia shook her head and smiled.
"Michael-sama, please don't apologize. The Church raised me to this age. I'm grateful for the explanation."
"It's our fault you reincarnated as a devil."
"It's fine. I regret it a little, but I can do things I couldn't do in the Church. My life is exciting." Xenovia looked at Irina and Arthas.
"Saying this might anger other believers… but we're satisfied. Right, Irina?"
Xenovia smiled at Irina, letting go of her past.
"I hate to admit it, but it's true. Punish us for enjoying our fallen lives, Michael-sama!"
Rias looked pious, but Michael shook his head gently.
"We'll bear the sin. I'm relieved to hear that."
Asia, tears of joy in her eyes, looked at Michael.
"Michael-sama, I'm happy. I have many important people. I'm honored to speak to you!"
"I'm sorry. I thank you for your forgiveness. I'll remove you three from the System. Live happily as devils."
Michael smiled. The girls' problems were solved.
"Now that's settled, let's discuss the soldier." Azazel said, narrowing his eyes at Arthas.
"I'm curious about your Divine Dividing Class weapon. Can you tell me its name?"
"Azazel, what are you doing?"
Sirzechs frowned, protecting Arthas.
"Relax. I'm curious. I collect Divine Dividing Class weapons. It's normal to be curious about a powerful unknown one."
Azazel said casually. Arthas didn't mind. It was just a name.
"It's called Frostmourne."
Arthas said casually. Azazel frowned.
"I've never heard of it. Is it a lost Divine Dividing Class weapon?"
"I don't know. I only know the name."
Arthas leaned back in his chair. Azazel shrugged.
As the meeting was about to end, a loud explosion echoed.
"What happened?!" Everyone was alarmed. An explosion at this meeting?
"Something unexpected happened." Azazel looked out the window.
"Heh, we're surrounded…"
He chuckled. Sirzechs and Michael stood up. They were surrounded by black-robed figures.
"Interesting. Attacking a three-faction leader meeting? What gave them the courage?"
Azazel asked, intrigued.
A louder explosion echoed. A flash of light swept the windows. The school shook.
"No matter the era, someone tries to stop peace."
Michael said, looking at the mages attacking with magic. He wondered which faction they were from.
