Chapter 65 - The Miracle of Love

A Night of Rain and Unanswered Questions

The sun had already set.

The moon had risen into the night sky, trying to scatter its soft, silvery light across the still waters of the sea. But the dark clouds gathering overhead were growing thicker and deeper. At times, the clouds would hide the moon completely behind their shadows, and then, whenever a passing breeze pushed them aside, the moonlight would once again spill across the restless waves.

The strengthening wind brushed against the leaves of the trees, creating a strange, whispering rustle, while the waves crashed against the shore as though bearing witness to some untold story.

Amidst it all, Ramish and Richer walked silently beside each other.

There was silence between them, but it was not the kind of silence that brought peace.

It was the kind of silence that concealed too many questions.

As they walked, Ramish glanced at Richer. He had been quiet for quite some time. His eyes wandered from the sea to the ground, as though something deep within him was unfolding—something beyond the reach of words.

Suddenly, Ramish stopped.

"Richer..."

Richer looked at him in surprise.

Ramish pointed toward the sky.

"Look... It seems the moon is Displeased with its moonlight tonight."

Richer stared at the sky for a few moments before giving a faint smile.

"How could they possibly be upset with each other?"

Ramish gently turned Richer's face toward the sky.

"Look closely. Whenever the moonlight begins to paint its reflection across the sea, these clouds come and hide the moon."

Richer laughed softly.

"You really say some very strange things. There are such heavy clouds covering the sky. What does the moon have to do with it?"

Ramish smiled.

"The clouds are only an excuse. The truth is... there is a certain sweetness in lovers getting upset with each other and then making up."

Richer looked at him with a faint smile.

"How could the moon ever be upset with its own moonlight?"

"Why not?"

Ramish replied softly.

"Sometimes, even love needs a little sulking. Because until the one you love comes to make it right... how can the heart ever find complete peace?"

Richer remained silent for a few moments, simply looking at him.

Then, very softly, he asked,

"What if one day... I become upset with you?"

A smile spread across Ramish's lips.

"First of all, I won't let you stay upset for long."

Richer raised an eyebrow.

"And if I still do?"

Ramish looked deeply into his eyes.

"Then I'll do everything I can to win you back. Even if it takes me the entire night to make you smile again."

A faint smile appeared on Richer's face, but he quickly fell silent.

His gaze drifted back toward the sea.

At that very moment, the air grew damp.

A few drops of rain fell from the sky.

Richer looked upward and immediately said,

"Come on. Let's go back to the car."

Ramish looked at him.

"Why?"

"It's going to rain."

Richer answered quickly.

"We'll get soaked. We could get sick. And tomorrow we have to leave for another journey."

He turned around to leave.

But Ramish immediately caught his hand.

Richer stopped.

He turned back and looked at him.

"What happened?"

Holding his hand gently, Ramish said,

"Stay..."

Richer looked at him in surprise.

"It's going to rain, Ramish."

"Then let it."

Ramish looked toward the sky and smiled.

"For so long, we've been thinking about what will happen, what should happen, what tomorrow will bring, what lies ahead..."

He turned his gaze toward Richer.

"Tonight, let's do something for once that we don't have to think about."

Richer looked at him uncertainly.

"What do you mean?"

Ramish took one of his hands and gently pulled him closer.

"Let's dance in the rain."

A smile escaped Richer's lips.

"There you go again... acting like a child."

"Yes."

Ramish laughed.

"And tonight, you're going to be childish with me."

"We'll get soaked."

"Then let us get soaked."

"What if we get sick?"

Ramish replied mischievously,

"Then we'll take care of each other."

Richer shook his head.

"Trying to explain anything to you is impossible."

He started to walk away again.

But Ramish held his hand and gently pulled him back.

Richer stopped.

Ramish placed Richer's hand on his shoulder and slowly wrapped his own arm around Richer's waist.

And then, beneath the gentle rain, the two of them began to sway together.

There was no music...

No instruments...

Only the soft rhythm of raindrops, the whispering wind, and the endless sound of waves crashing against the shore.

Yet, in that moment, all of it sounded like the most beautiful melody in the world.

Ramish spoke softly.

"Richer... one day, we'll remember these days and smile."

Richer looked quietly into his eyes.

Ramish tightened his hold on his hand slightly.

"So live these moments with all your heart. Don't spend every moment thinking about tomorrow. Some moments are meant to be felt... not questioned."

A strange moisture appeared in Richer's eyes.

But this time, that moisture carried a smile with it.

He whispered,

"Maybe you're right."

And then, for the first time, Richer began dancing with Ramish on his own.

The rain grew heavier.

Within moments, they were completely drenched.

Puddles gathered along the roadside, reflecting the pale moonlight and the occasional flash of lightning, their reflections trembling upon the water.

Suddenly, Ramish looked toward the puddles and spoke mischievously.

"Richer..."

"Hmm?"

"Come on. Let's really act like children tonight."

Richer looked at the water, then back at Ramish.

"What are you planning?"

Ramish took his hand and stepped into the water.

"This!"

They both stomped into the puddle at the same time.

Water splashed over their clothes and faces.

Richer looked surprised for a moment...

Then he burst into laughter.

Ramish laughed with him.

And just like that, the seriousness hidden inside their hearts, all their questions, all their fears...

for a few precious moments, disappeared somewhere far away.

Sometimes they splashed water at each other.

Sometimes they laughed as they tried to escape one another.

And sometimes, without even thinking, holding hands, they would splash in the water together and laugh as the flying spray landed on each other.

There was a carefree laughter in Richer's voice that had perhaps been missing for days.

And Ramish simply watched him with a smile.

He knew this happiness might not last forever.

He knew there were still countless questions alive inside Richer's heart.

And perhaps...

there were questions inside his own heart too.

But for now...

he wasn't trying to find their answers.

He was simply watching Richer smile.

Rainwater slipped down their faces and flowed away, as though it wanted to carry with it the exhaustion and fear that had settled upon their hearts.

After a while, the two stood close to each other, breathless and laughing.

Richer looked at Ramish.

The restlessness in his eyes was no longer the same.

There was only a quiet sense of peace.

Ramish gently asked,

"How do you feel now?"

Richer looked at him for a few moments before answering with the faintest smile.

"I don't know..."

He paused.

"But for a little while... I forgot all my questions."

Ramish smiled.

"So then, let's head back to the car."

Richer lowered his gaze with a soft smile.

"Perhaps love really does have that much power... enough to make a person forget the weight in their heart, even if only for a little while."

Ramish looked at him.

But this time, he said nothing.

Because he knew...

Some burdens cannot be washed away even by the rain.

And some questions...

Even in the presence of love...

Continue to demand answers.
