"The Love That Understands Without Asking"
Outside, the hot and cold winds roared around them, while inside the hearts of two people, silent storms were raging, leaving them both restless. The world outside continued moving at its own pace, but between the two of them, time seemed to have come to a standstill.
Ramish quietly took Richer's hand in his and said,
"Richer, whatever it is that is troubling you so deeply, you should tell me. Perhaps speaking what is in your heart will make the burden a little lighter."
Lowering his head, Richer said softly,
"No, Ramish. It's nothing like that. I'm just confused within myself, and I can't understand what I'm supposed to do."
Ramish watched him carefully for a few moments before asking in a quiet voice,
"Are you worried because of me, or is there some other problem?"
Richer remained silent.
A faint sadness entered Ramish's voice.
"Richer, why do I feel as though I am the biggest problem in your life?"
Richer immediately raised his head and looked at Ramish before lowering his gaze again.
"Why do you think that, Ramish?"
Taking a deep breath, Ramish said,
"Just a little while ago, you said that I was the biggest problem in your life. And I can feel that you seem more troubled than before, but you still won't tell me what is going on."
Richer's eyes remained fixed on Ramish's face. For a few moments, he could not say anything. Then, in a quiet voice, he said,
"I'm sorry. I said too much."
Ramish smiled gently.
"It's all right. Perhaps saying all of that gave you a little relief. For me, your peace of mind matters more than anything."
Richer shook his head helplessly.
"Ramish, please don't say that. And forgive me. I was angry, and I said more than I should have. Please don't take my words to heart."
Ramish held his hand a little more firmly.
"Then what is it? Tell me. What is going on inside you?"
Richer fell completely silent for a moment and simply looked into his eyes.
Ramish's eyes seemed to fill with countless questions at once—questions for which perhaps Richer still had no answers.
After a while, Richer finally spoke in a low voice.
"Ramish, sometimes when I look at you, I find myself amazed. How can you love someone with such an open heart? Without fear… so fearlessly… How, Ramish?"
"It's as though your love is like a free bird, Ramish… a bird that never fears spreading its wings and flying toward the highest skies."
He paused for a few moments before taking a deep breath.
"Even though you know that people don't look kindly upon a love like ours. Society does not allow a love like this."
Richer's words left Ramish stunned.
In a quiet yet anxious voice, Ramish asked,
"So, Richer… are you afraid of society? Is that the reason you hesitate to express your love for me?"
As he finished speaking, Ramish's lips fell silent.
Their eyes became lost in one another.
Richer continued looking into Ramish's eyes for a few moments.
There were countless questions in those eyes.
Fear…
A plea…
And a helplessness so deep that perhaps words could never truly describe it.
Finally, Richer spoke softly.
"Ramish, I don't know whether it is fear or something else."
Looking into his eyes, Ramish asked,
"Then… what decision have you made about our love?"
Richer quietly turned his gaze toward the outside.
Beyond the glass window, the wind continued to blow. The scattered clouds across the sky seemed to mirror the turmoil inside his heart.
After a few moments, Richer looked back at Ramish and said softly,
"Ramish, can we talk about all of this later?"
Ramish remained silent.
Richer continued,
"I just want some peace for a while. I want to enjoy this journey. I don't want you to ruin your mood, or for me to say something that turns the memories of this beautiful journey into something bitter."
There was a plea in his voice.
"I just want every moment of this journey to be beautiful… and every memory of it to be unforgettable."
Ramish's heart was filled with countless questions.
He wanted answers to all of them from Richer.
But perhaps Richer did not yet have the strength to answer them.
Or perhaps he simply did not want to hurt Ramish any further.
Ramish watched Richer silently for a few moments. Then he gestured toward the waiter, called him over, and ordered tea and coffee.
After the waiter left, Ramish looked at Richer and asked,
"Would you like something with your coffee? Cake, biscuits, or anything else?"
Richer gave a faint smile and shook his head.
"No. Just one cup of coffee is enough."
The waiter left to bring their coffee and tea.
Ramish looked at Richer again.
"Richer, can't you leave all your fears and worries behind for a little while and simply enjoy this journey with me?"
As he said this, Ramish took Richer's hand into both of his.
"I think you should live every moment with me with all your heart. You should do what your heart wants you to do."
Ramish gestured toward the open sky beyond the glass.
"Richer, spread your wings and enjoy this open sky. I am with you. You don't need to be afraid of anything… neither of people nor of their questions."
Richer's eyes filled with tears.
He gently squeezed Ramish's hand and whispered,
"Ramish… thank you."
Ramish asked softly,
"Richer, what are you thanking me for?"
With tearful eyes and a faint smile, Richer replied,
"For understanding me… and for not asking me any more questions."
A soft smile appeared on Ramish's lips.
"If I can be of any help to you, then it is something I can be proud of."
Just then, the waiter returned with the tea and coffee.
He placed the cups in front of them and walked away.
Ramish pointed toward the coffee.
"Richer, drink your coffee and enjoy it."
Richer smiled and looked at Ramish.
"Ramish, can I taste some of your tea?"
A smile spread across Ramish's face.
"Yes, of course."
With that, he extended his cup toward Richer.
Richer also extended his coffee toward Ramish.
"Ramish, you should taste a little of my coffee too."
Ramish smiled and shook his head.
"You know I don't drink coffee."
A playful spark appeared in Richer's eyes.
"I want you to taste my coffee so you can find out what kind of coffee I like. And I'll drink your tea so I can try to understand your taste."
Hearing this, an involuntary smile appeared on Ramish's lips.
And the moment Richer saw that smile, one spread across his own face as well.
Only a few moments earlier, two hearts had been weighed down by their own fears, questions, and uncertainties. Now, through the two cups they held in their hands, they seemed to be trying to lighten that burden little by little for each other.
Perhaps love does not always need grand promises or lofty words.
Sometimes, love is simply this—
to understand another person's fears,
to not demand answers from them,
but to keep holding their hand,
and quietly share a cup of tea or a cup of coffee with them.
Perhaps this is what true love really means.
