Chapter 214 - Chapter 213: When Night Falls, Please Close Your Eyes

The sharp cries of unknown Pokémon echoed from outside the window...

The old man walked to the window with his hands behind his back, looked at the thick fog outside, and muttered to himself, "The fog has gotten heavier again."

After saying that, he drew the curtains, shutting everything out.

This room was imbued with the ambiance of medieval Europe. The floor was covered with a thick carpet. Besides a large bed, there were several old-fashioned sofas placed around the room.

Directly opposite the sofas was a large built-in fireplace. The walls were hung with paintings, all depicting women dressed in European-style dresses.

Caleb's position was to the left of the fireplace. From his angle, he could easily observe everyone's behavior.

Not everyone liked chatting and socializing with strangers, so a few players stayed quietly with their own Pokémon, ignoring the outside commotion.

The sky finally turned completely dark. As the last faint trace of light vanished, the room plunged into darkness.

The old man fished out a flashlight from somewhere. He walked to the fireplace with his Ninetales to inspect it carefully and said, "No firewood. Looks like we can't start a fire."

The college student, Dmitri, blinked, looking at the only source of light in the darkness, and asked, "Uncle, where did you get that flashlight from?"

The old man returned to his spot, placed the flashlight horizontally on the table, and explained, "The Infinite World sells everything. As long as you have enough points, nothing is a problem."

Dmitri's eyes widened with curiosity, "Really, you can buy anything? Can you learn magic there?"

The old man looked at him and said, "No. These Scenarios only have the Pokémon-verse. There aren't any of those xianxia or fantasy worlds found in web novels."

"Oh..." Dmitri sounded somewhat disappointed upon hearing this but didn't say anything more.

Time passed slowly... Unknowingly, a wave of drowsiness swept through the crowd.

Dmitri yawned, using the flashlight's beam to look around. He thought to himself: 'With so many people here, the werewolves probably wouldn't kill someone in public, right?'

Thinking this, he relaxed, hugged a cushion on the sofa, and slowly closed his eyes.

He wasn't the only one with this idea. The other players felt the same way.

Subconsciously, they felt that with so many people around, the werewolves probably wouldn't make a move tonight.

Therefore, most people peacefully closed their eyes and drifted off to sleep, either lying down or sitting up.

Caleb used Night Vision to scan the eleven people in front of him. Besides himself, there was clearly another werewolf present.

To avoid being targeted by his own kind and causing the werewolf faction to fall into a disadvantage right from the start, Caleb decided to find the other first.

The Night Vision was a werewolf-exclusive ability. If anyone was looking around randomly or making eye contact with him right now, Caleb could almost certainly confirm their identity.

But unfortunately, after looking around, he couldn't find that teammate. Therefore, he could only give up on that plan for the time being.

'Mhm... Who should I send off tonight?' He mused.

Among the trainers present were an elderly man in his sixties, a corporate elite in a suit, a university student, and even an elementary school student with a chubby face, etc...

These eleven people almost covered most demographics in society.

From elementary school students whose worldviews aren't fully formed, to an old man who has experienced most of his life and seems to have a wise gaze that can see through everything.

'In that case, I choose you!'

[Duel activated!]

Everything before Caleb's eyes suddenly changed. The so-called battle space was actually a pure, flawless virtual space.

Anything that happened here would not be perceived by the outside world. To the outside, the two people who entered the battle space were still resting with their eyes closed, with no changes whatsoever.

Looking at the buzz-cut, chubby kid opposite him who was less than 1.6 meters tall, Caleb felt he was quite good at battling this type of opponent...

The kid had obviously also received the prompt. After the initial panic, he quickly calmed down and exclaimed, "Sh*t! So you're the werewolf!"

Caleb revealed a harmless smile and released his 'Caterpie'.

Seeing this, the kid immediately breathed a sigh of relief and chuckled, "Do you think just because I'm young, I'm easy to pick on? Well, today I'll show you what an elementary school student can do!"

As he spoke, he sent out his own Pokémon, a large Electivire. He then ordered, "Electivire, use Thunderbolt! Finish off that Caterpie for me!"

Caleb unhurriedly commanded, "Swords Dance."

'Caterpie' flew into the air, spinning rapidly as it faced Electivire's Thunderbolt.

Amidst the flashing electric light, the kid's face was illuminated, showing shock, "How can a Caterpie possibly fly?!"

Caleb continued, "Swords Dance."

The kid was scared now, but since they were in the middle of a battle, he could only continue, "Electivire, use Thunder! Blast it to pieces!"

A layer of dark clouds gathered in the sky above.

Powerful lightning brewed within them.

The next second, a bolt of thunder containing terrifying electrical energy struck directly on Caterpie's head, instantly engulfing it like a lightning snake.

A moment later, the lightning dissipated...

Caterpie appeared unaffected in the kid's eyes.

Caleb received a prompt:

[The nano suit's power has been fully charged.]

Two of the three layers of Disguise had now been broken...

The kid's face had drastically changed color. He muttered, "Impossible. How is this possible..."

As he spoke, he seemed to realize something. He sharply raised his head to look at the trainer opposite him and shouted unreasonably, "You're cheating! How can a level 5 Caterpie fly? How can it block my Thunderbolt and Thunder! I'm reporting you! You're bullying a kid!"

Caleb: "Bye bye!"

After stacking two Swords Dances, Mimikyu entered a state of total dominance, becoming like a ghost in an empty battlefield. One Play Rough was all it took to instantly KO the level 78 Electivire...

...

A sudden exclamation rang in Caleb's ears. He opened his eyes without changing his expression and heard the crowd fall into chaos...

"Something bad happened! No. 3 is dead!"

No. 3 was the newbie named Chiara.

'It seems the other werewolf made a move too...' Caleb thought.

"Ah!" At that moment, another scream was heard, "No. 5! No. 5 is dead too!"

No. 5 was the kid Caleb had just sent off.

Hearing these two pieces of news, all the players present immediately fell silent. The sound of breathing and heartbeats was clearly audible.

Someone swallowed hard and asked in a trembling voice, "How did the werewolves do it?"

No one knew. The room was completely silent.

The lifeless bodies of No. 5 and No. 3 lay on the sofa. Their pale faces looked eerily frightening under the illumination of the old man's flashlight.

Although they knew they weren't truly dead, but were merely sent back to the Infinite World after failing their quest, facing two corpses at once still made everyone feel a bit apprehensive...
