Now that his old cloning plan wouldn't work anymore due to the large groups of Slimes, Max needed something new to kill them effectively.
Max thought about it long and hard while waiting for his Stamina bar to fill up, and came up with a ridiculous plan that could either boost his level by 2, straight to level 10, or be a complete waste of time with a chance to backfire.
Max started scouting the area, looking for all the slime groups he could find.
Eleven hours later, Max had created a map on the ground.
This map contained everything Max could find, from the positions of slimes to the amount per base.
Once Max was sure he had memorised every small bit of the map, he threw a fireball at it and made sure there were no remnants left.
He ascertained the shortest route for his plan and the best possible actions he could take.
Max set out eastward, looking for the smallest 'Slime Gang'.
He reached in 2 minutes and hid in a corner using [Disguise].
Max summoned 3 clones and ordered them to attack as many slimes in the Slime Gang as they could, and then immediately run away.
They did just this, however, while running away, they split up and went in 3 separate directions.
Once Max was sure that the clones had attracted all of the slimes, he removed his disguise and prepared for the next stage.
---
The clones were running as fast as they could from the Giant Slimes, and while they had a small headstart, the slimes were catching up to them, with a difference of 4 agility.
Max wasn't ready to face them and still needed 10 minutes to prepare, but at the rate the slimes were catching up, Max wouldn't even be able to stall for 2 minutes.
Max needed a plan, and he needed one fast.
Max looked at the current status of the clones and realised that they weren't doing great.
The clones were almost in reach of the slimes at this point and were a far cry from being able to buy Max the time he needed.
Max instructed his clones to use as many [Swift Dash]s as they could, believing that this could at least buy him some time.
7 minutes later, the clones were almost all out of mana, and the slimes had nearly caught up.
Max was almost finished with his preparations, so he dispersed them.
The clones the slimes were chasing had disappeared, so after looking around for a few seconds, they turned back, returning to their base.
Max finally finished his masterpiece and was only adding the final touches to ensure his plan would be perfect.
After verifying that everything was ready, Max once again hid inside a corner using [Disguise].
Finally, the slimes had entered their base; however, it looked completely different from the original.
There were lines of bright yellow fire that sometimes convulsed, adding to the intensity.
The cavern changed from a brownish grey to a deeper maroon.
Even the air became a misty, deep red.
All in all, it looked basically like Satan's home, a place where no one wishes to enter, not even the devil himself.
The air and fire cleared up, but their lair wasn't the same.
Instead of an empty cave, what they saw was an army of monsters, slightly larger than their very own.
Not slimes, but instead, there were One-Horned Rabbits inside their home. These rabbits weren't the same as normal One-Horned Rabbits, for they were red and had flames emerging from their horns.
The slimes, driven by their instinct to devour everything and anything that could threaten them, immediately bounced towards the rabbits, just like the rabbits, who were hopping towards the slimes too
They immediately attacked each other, each slimed matched with an equal rabbit, matching each other blow for blow.
Finally, after 5 minutes of intense battle between the two different races, the rabbits had overpowered the slimes thanks to their slight advantage in numbers, not without any losses, of course.
However, while they had expected time to recuperate, what they were met with was a massive fireball, killing all of the One-Horned Rabbits that were lucky enough to survive.
10 seconds after they all had died, Max came out, exclaiming, "Finally, they finished fighting. I started getting nervous as to whether my mana would be able to last long enough."
Unsurprisingly, the entire ordeal was Max's grand plan to deal with the slimes, claiming as much exp as he could without putting himself in any danger.
While Max had sent out 3 clones to distract the Slime Gang, he had also sent out another clone to lure the second smallest Slime Gang.
He attracted them all to this very spot, timing it perfectly so he could disperse all of the clones at the same time.
He made the original slimes look like One-Horned Rabbits from the perspective of the new slimes, and did the opposite, too.
While this might not sound too difficult, Max had to account for approximately 100 slimes, which meant keeping track of them all at once and making sure they saw what Max wanted them to see, while making sure there were no discrepancies when they were fighting.
This would be much harder if not for the fact that each slime was focused on one 'rabbit', but by no means was it easy.
He would have no chance of succeeding if not for his heavily enhanced intelligence after killing the Ghost Chameleon, which helped him keep track of the slimes.
Another major factor that helped him use his skills effectively is the experience gained after fighting the Ghost Chameleon Boss.
Not the experience that helped him level up, but the experience that he gained from fighting, which improved his real skills in controlling illusions, not to mention the multitude of times he used his illusion magic while in the dungeon.
As to the reason why he made the slimes look like fire rabbits?
That was simply because he wanted them to look cool.
