"Aargh!" I shouted as Arthur's blade slashed across my chest, knocking me to the ground. The wounds were not shallow, but I had already grown tired of this fight.
I lifted my hand.
"I surrender…" I said, and Arthur immediately halted his assault.
"The winner… is Arthur!!!" Old man Manor's voice boomed, and cheers exploded from Class B.
But Arthur didn't look pleased. Instead, his face twisted with disgust and disappointment. His eyes carried the weight of betrayal.
"Why?" he asked, walking closer and extending his hand to pull me up.
"I just wanted it over with. You're skilled, Arthur. But in the end, I'm only a mage. What good are sword skills if my abilities as a mage are lacking?" I said, taking his hand as he drew me to my feet.
His eyes widened at my words.
