Chapter 99: A Night of Champions League

Niels sat by the window on the short flight from London to Milan. He watched the clouds for most of the journey.
His old backpack was in the overhead locker. Inside were a few clothes, an old novel and a notebook. He had told himself the notebook was for personal thoughts this time, not football.
He had left Crawley the night before. After spending the week dealing with everything that followed his decision to stay, he felt like he needed some time away.
The banners, the pastries and the children chanting outside Broadfield Stadium were still fresh in his mind. He appreciated all of it, but the attention had started to become a lot.
Since deciding to stay, he hadn't really gone anywhere. He had mostly kept to himself and spent his time around Crawley.
Now he was finally taking a break.
