Chapter 256 - Chapter 256:The Reappearance of the Trident Mark

Chapter 256:The Reappearance of the Trident Mark

After confirming that Wang Dong'er had fallen asleep and wouldn't wake up for a while, Lin Qinghan released his divine sense.

From the perspective of his divine sense, there was a glowing golden trident mark on Wang Dong'er's forehead.

When he saw this, Lin Qinghan's expression shifted slightly.

He remembered very clearly—Wang Dong'er's divine power had already been wiped out by him, entirely by accident.

Back when they were still at Shrek, he had completely won over Wang Dong'er. If she had still been carrying the Sea God's divine sense back then, his strength at the time wouldn't have allowed him to make any real move on her.

Later, Lin Qinghan had even entered Wang Dong'er's spiritual sea to investigate, and had asked Alex to help search for any remnants of divine sense.

But now, the Sea God's mark had reappeared on Wang Dong'er's body. Although it still had no effect due to the unique properties of his spirit-type martial soul, this development left Lin Qinghan deeply uneasy.

He remembered that Gu Yuena had once told him the God Realm had lost its ability to detect Douluo Continent. Yet this newly appeared Sea God's mark on Wang Dong'er clearly contradicted that.

Gu Yuena had no reason to lie to him—she was one of his current companions, and also the one with whom he had the deepest bond.

After all, in that illusion that was indistinguishable from reality, the two of them had essentially lived as husband and wife for decades. Even the rule-based powers he comprehended in that illusion carried over into reality.

So, Lin Qinghan didn't believe Gu Yuena would deceive him. If the God Realm truly had the ability to monitor Douluo Continent, Gu Yuena wouldn't dare show herself.

So—could the problem lie with the Clear Sky Sect?

After pondering for a while, Lin Qinghan began to see a likely explanation.

In the original novel, Sea God Tang San had left behind numerous arrangements within the Clear Sky Sect. Practically every time the protagonist visited the sect, something critical happened.

Even later in the original story, Tang San had appeared directly at the Clear Sky Sect. If you claimed Tang San hadn't set up anything significant there, Lin Qinghan wouldn't believe it.

The differences between the current Douluo Continent and the one in the original novel were already quite large.

For instance, Xu Tianran—who was originally supposed to take the throne within a year or two—had now already become emperor of the Sun and Moon Empire, albeit as Lin Qinghan's puppet.

And the original protagonist, who was supposed to be Huo Yun'er's only son, now existed as a pair of twin siblings in this world. The original Huo Yuhao had even died at the Duke of White Tiger's mansion.

All the fortuitous encounters originally destined for the protagonist were essentially seized by Lin Qinghan. Though Huo Yutong had gained tremendous spiritual growth with Lin Qinghan's help, and wasn't behind her original counterpart in any way.

Then there was the Emperor's Auspicious Beast. Because of Lin Qinghan's involvement, Huo Yutong had interacted with the beast in the undead half-plane during attribute guidance.

Due to the strange phenomena during that interaction, Lin Qinghan initially believed that Tang San's arrangements through Wang Dong'er had failed to activate.

Yet now, the Sea God mark, which had vanished, had returned.

Even more suspiciously, upon closer observation, Lin Qinghan discovered the Sea God mark flickered more rapidly when he approached Wang Dong'er—and it even emitted a strand of spiritual energy aimed at him.

But that energy dissipated immediately after it came within three meters, nullified by Lin Qinghan's protective spirit martial soul.

From these clues, Lin Qinghan drew a tentative conclusion:

Tang San, the Sea God in the God Realm, might be getting anxious.

After all, the Clear Sky Sect was likely his only reliable channel for gaining information on the current state of Douluo Continent.

Yet that sect now only housed two soul beasts with divine officer-level cultivation. Even they could barely burst beyond the level of a Limit Douluo. They were hardly adequate for Tang San's intended plans.

"Maybe it's time to go visit."

Lin Qinghan thought carefully, and finally made a decision—to take Wang Dong'er to the Clear Sky Sect.

He no longer needed to fear Tang San. With two divine king-level rule powers, a first-rank spiritual divine source, and limitless divine energy, Lin Qinghan could face nearly any threat.

Unless Tang San descended to the mortal plane in person, Lin Qinghan had nothing to worry about.

Having made this decision, Lin Qinghan withdrew his divine sense.

He didn't attempt to erase the Sea God mark on Wang Dong'er for now. After all, that spiritual tag had no effect on him—and leaving it there would avoid alarming the opponent too early.

Even if the Sea God Tang San was starting to panic.

·········

Nothing else happened that night. Lin Qinghan and Wang Dong'er slept in each other's arms until noon the next day.

Once the sun had climbed to its zenith, Lin Qinghan shifted his consciousness back from his spiritual world to his physical body.

This was a new function he had recently developed. Now, not only could real objects be transferred into his spiritual world—even spiritual bodies could enter directly.

But lately, Lin Qinghan had been feeling a strange illusion.

He had a vague sensation that his original spiritual sea had returned.

However, his original spiritual sea hadn't disappeared. It had simply evolved into the spiritual world. So if he felt it again… did that mean he now had two spiritual seas?

That would be insane.

After all, a spiritual sea corresponded to the brain. Normally, a single brain would only have one spiritual sea.

So Lin Qinghan brushed off the sensation as mere illusion.

"Get up."

He gently patted Wang Dong'er awake.

Thanks to his healing, Wang Dong'er had only felt some exhaustion last night. After a full night's rest, she had nearly recovered.

Feeling Lin Qinghan's soft patting, Wang Dong'er soon stirred and woke up.

"Qinghan, good morning. What time is it now?"

Wang Dong'er let out a sleepy yawn, then pulled a clean change of clothes from her storage-type spirit tool and began dressing.

"You had something you wanted to talk to me about, didn't you? Go ahead and say it now."

Lin Qinghan walked behind her and helped comb her hair, tying her long light-blue hair into two ponytails.

"Huh? How did you know? I really do have something to ask you this time."

Wang Dong'er let out a soft gasp and, after fixing her clothes, turned to face Lin Qinghan.
