"Today, we will be crowning our new King, the leader who guided us through the storm..." Nicolette's voice rang out, clear and steady, despite the residual tension in the hall. She picked up the jeweled crown, staring intently at Sunny.
Though she was the First Elder, Nicolette didn't dare demand a being who had faced the Child of Destruction to kneel. Instead, she simply raised the crown and gently placed it upon Sunny's head, followed by the Queen's diadem upon Josephine's.
"Isn't this moving too fast?" Qin Li whispered to his father, surveying the tense atmosphere.
"With the cataclysm two days ago and the destruction it caused, this haste is necessary," his father, Qin, stated gravely. "The commoners trust him to no end, but the nobles—the powerful ones—are still guarded. We don't even know if he is truly human."
