At twenty minutes, Liverpool came closest to changing the score.
A quick exchange down the right pulled Wigan's midfield towards the touchline.
The ball was then worked inside, where a Liverpool runner arrived to collect it just outside the penalty area.
He tried to slip a pass into the space behind the defence, but the angle was narrow.
Wigan's centre-back read it early and stepped across, cutting out the ball before the forward could reach it.
The clearance travelled towards halfway and once again, Leo moved to collect it, but a Liverpool midfielder arrived at the same moment.
Their shoulders met as they challenged for possession, and the ball skipped away towards the touchline.
The crowd applauded the tackle as Leo turned and recovered his position without complaint.
"Good pressure from Liverpool there," Beglin observed.
