Vrazen did not know why, but for some unknown reason, he felt anger surge through him. Was it because she was a vampire? That could not be. He had seen lots and lots of vampires being tortured—even more worse—and yet that did not shift any sympathy in him. So why did this anger him?
The three girls were trembling so hard. It was only then he realized they were the maids. They were shaking like chickens that had just been placed in cold water. Who wouldn't? At this point, they looked as good as dead — because they were.
As if that was not enough, a guard who was passing by halted as he was sent to call Vrazen; his father had requested him to show the prince his room.
He walked, wondering what was going on there and why the prince was standing there.
He finally reached the scene and bowed respectfully.
