Everything happened in a flash. Declan grabbing me roughly by my arm, and questioning me really quickly. If I didn't know him well, I would have thought he had broken into a panic.
But he was Declan. He never panicked, and if he did, it wouldn't be because of me. He left just then, after telling me to stay here, like there was some place else I could be.
Now left alone with the food scattered on the floor, and the dead ants around it, I let out a deep fearful sigh.
Although I was attacked a few days ago, and I was scared, this was a much more direct and deadly attempt to terminate my life. But why?
I mean, what offence did I commit, and to whom?
I couldn't stop thinking of what would have happened if Declan had not gotten me really angry enough to crash both the table, and the dishes on it. I couldn't stop thinking about what would have happened if I had taken a bite.
