The three of them were originally having quite a lively conversation.
But as soon as Joanne arrived, it went completely silent. No one spoke.
Nicholas glanced at Mason, his indifferent face full of impatience. It seemed he was displeased.
"Miss Jordan, shouldn't you go check on Mr. Cheyne?" Nicholas said.
The words were polite, but clearly hinted that Joanne should leave.
Joanne acted as if she didn't notice, smiled, and looked at Mason: "No need, he's busy now and wouldn't want me to interrupt."
Nicholas furrowed his brow, and the smile on his lips faded slightly.
Dean was even more obvious, his face full of impatience.
If Joanne had come for him, he could still joke and tease.
But she had come for Mason, and Mason clearly wasn't interested in her.
Her presence here was somewhat bothersome.
"So, Miss Jordan, are you here to bother us since you're not disturbing Charles Cheyne?"
Dean said impatiently.
