Chapter 114 - Calm

Chapter – Calm Beginnings

The forest lay in a quiet hush, the kind that seemed to breathe with its own rhythm. A narrow path led to a small pond, its surface still and reflective like polished glass. Kael and Liora stood at a distance, leaning lightly against the trunks of twin oaks, watching.

Anay knelt at the water's edge, eyes closed, hands hovering just above the surface. The faint ripple of his spiritual energy shivered across the pond, like a silent melody only he could hear.

Kael crossed his arms, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "It's only been a short while since we left Nexus, and already he's at this level. Good for him."

Liora nodded in agreement, her eyes soft yet attentive. "He's focused. Even more than I expected. Patience and discipline… he's learning fast."

Anay's mind was quiet, but not idle. He let the water mirror his breathing, syncing it with the pulse of the forest around him. I could enter the Inner Realm now… he thought, but first… I must master Hakai. I can't rush. My guardian must be balanced before I push further.

A faint hum vibrated through the air—Hakai. The presence was subtle yet unmistakable, a shadow lingering just at the edge of perception, curling through the trees and the pond's reflection. Anay let his hands sink slowly into the water, feeling the current of life and energy swirl around him, sensing the bond waiting to awaken.

He exhaled slowly. Hakai… I feel you. Let's find harmony.

Shadows shifted across the pond as the spiritual energy twisted and turned, responding to his intent. He closed his eyes tighter, guiding his focus inward. The purple pulse at his chest grew faintly stronger, a heartbeat in rhythm with Hakai's presence. Every thought, every breath, every motion became a bridge—between himself and the guardian, between potential and control.

Time seemed suspended. A leaf fell into the water, creating concentric rings that stretched outward, fading into the stillness. Anay reached deeper into his core, balancing his spirit like one would tune an instrument. Energy flowed up through his legs, around his arms, into the tips of his fingers. He could feel Hakai's awareness brushing against his own, curious, testing, waiting.

A soft call broke through his concentration.

"Anay!"

He opened his eyes to see Kael and Liora standing at the pond's edge. Kael's expression carried approval, tempered with that usual hint of challenge. Liora's eyes sparkled with encouragement.

"You can test now," Liora said gently.

Kael nodded, adding, "See if you can synchronize fully. Don't hold back, but don't overreach either."

Anay stood slowly, water dripping from his sleeves, and extended his hands toward the pond. A faint, deep purple glow began to shimmer around him, not yet fully visible to the untrained eye. Hakai's presence responded immediately, stretching and twisting in gentle arcs of shadow, like a coil awakening from slumber.

Balance… harmony… unity, Anay reminded himself. He breathed deeply, grounding both himself and the guardian, feeling the ebb and flow of energy until it resonated in perfect synchrony.

From the corner of his eyes, Kael and Liora smiled faintly. Good, Anay thought. This is just the beginning.

The pond's surface began to ripple with energy, reflecting the faint purple aura that now pulsed steadily from Anay. The forest seemed to pause in acknowledgment, every leaf and branch catching the glow of an awakening power.

Anay exhaled, a calm smile on his face. Hakai… we'll grow together. Step by step.

And above the quiet of the forest, the wind carried the faintest whisper—almost imperceptible, but alive, as if acknowledging the first steps of a journey yet to come.
