No matter how much Ethan and the others tried to hold on, the engagement banquet eventually ended hastily. Looking at the mess in the banquet hall, he felt a sense of bleak desolation.
"Dad, the guests have left." James Reed came back and said to Ethan Seymour.
James' voice slowly brought Ethan back to his senses. He only managed to respond a beat slower than usual, "Oh."
"Dad, let's go home too." James' voice was very gentle, as if he was afraid that any louder noise would alarm Ethan.
Right now, James felt that Ethan was like a balloon about to explode, a little more pressure and he might burst into pieces.
Of course, if Ethan did explode, James wasn't afraid. He was just worried about getting caught in the aftermath.
"Grandpa Wilson and Grandma Wilson are also tired," James gently reminded, as there were still outsiders present.
