"If you all admit you're beaten, what are you still sitting there for?" Kai Bright's suddenly stern voice sent them shooting to their feet.
Things were going smoothly on Sophie Wilson's end. In the monitoring room, Frederick Cole let out a light sigh—having Sophie come over really had been the right call.
"Sophie…" Frederick had just said two syllables when he turned his head and saw Charles Seymour staring at the screen with intense focus, his thin lips pressed into a faint upward curve, eyes bright—obviously completely absorbed in watching Sophie on the monitor.
Frederick glanced at the utterly absorbed Charles, then at little Bao'er sitting in his lap, tiny mouth half open in surprise, and for no reason a strange thought popped into his head.
Charles bringing the kid over to him—could it be just so he'd babysit?
"Sophie's side is all wrapped up. When are you heading out?" Frederick asked.
