In the 08/09 season, after a grueling seven-game series against the Lakers, the Celtics could only watch as their arch-rivals, led by Kobe, completed their revival.

Bontemps said, "This is their third consecutive trip to the finals, and if they fail to win the championship, they will become the 'No. 1 losers' for three consecutive years."
