Aurelia continued, "There must be someone behind them giving orders. Did you find out anything?"
Mason Nightshade turned his eyes away guiltily, not looking at her, and shoved another apple slice into her mouth.
Aurelia instantly realized he was hiding something from her. After thinking for a moment, she widened her eyes, "Did you kill them all?!"
"They touched someone they shouldn't have." Mason showed no regret. This was the first time he acted so impulsively; just yesterday, Adrian Cooper had called him incessantly over this matter.
Aurelia rubbed her aching forehead, slightly doubting whether this was the Mason she knew. When did he become so impulsive?
"Did they approach you before? Do you remember anything?" she asked Balthazar Shaw.
Balthazar's face stiffened, his gaze subtly shifting to Mason Nightshade, and he lowered his head guiltily, evading eye contact, clenching his fingers tightly.
