"Yes, yes, yes," Aurelia responded. "So they officially removed you from your position, yet they're still asking you to handle those issues. Is there no one else in the troops?"
Aurelia knew she shouldn't interfere in these matters; she had neither the rights nor the obligations to meddle in Mason's work affairs.
But seeing Mason return covered in blood that last time unsettled her. She had survived near death herself, and wondered what if one day he doesn't come back, ending up bloody and dead out there...
Aurelia closed her eyes, a cold glint shimmering in her gaze.
Mason chuckled, "And you say you're not angry."
He held her, sighed softly by her ear, "This isn't something you can easily walk away from."
Moreover, he still had things to investigate.
