"I don't want to ever see you again, do you understand?" Renn said for the last time. He wasn't going to repeat himself again. "We are strangers from today. Forget the blood that runs through our veins. My mother is dead and gone."
"W-why would you say that?" Principal Valois managed to ask, her voice trembling. She wished he would let her explain. "Everything I did was for a reason. Do you think—"
"Look at her," Renn turned to the others, his voice cold. "Can you hear her? She said she did everything for a reason. Let's hear the reason now."
Alex, still in shock from finding out that Renn's mother was the principal, could only nod in agreement.
"Go on, tell me," Renn said bitterly. "Tell us what the reason was all about." He had almost no patience left. If only she knew, she would have spoken faster.
