Chapter 6 - Chapter 45- The Immortal Nomad

It was night when An Mo and Xai Lin escaped the Su Continent, now it was early in the morning of the next day.

The first one to wake up was Xai Lin. When she opened her eyes, she came face-to-face with An Mo's freckled face that was partially obscure by his bright orange hair.

She didn't bother getting up. Not to mention An Mo's hands, which were firmly wrapped around her waist preventing her from moving, she also wanted to lay in bed for a moment.

Eventually, Xai Lin's gaze settled on An Mo's face and didn't move away for a long while. Unconsciously, she raised her hand and gently shifted his hair to fully reveal his face.

Looking at that exotically handsome face that retained a bit of its youthfulness, Xai Lin couldn't help but smile.

"Mm…"

Suddenly, An Mo let out a drowsy hum before he slowly opened his eyes. What he saw after opening his eyes, was the scene of Xai Lin staring intently at him with a smile on her lips.

An Mo, who was still drowsy, fell into an even more dazed state for a moment. However, he managed to recover a bit faster than usual, and without even thinking, he said muffledly.

"Xai-xai, were you staring at me while I was sleeping? You're so perverted."

An Mo also reached out to take Xai Lin's hand that was holding up his hair and brought it to his lips to nibble on her fingers.

Xai Lin watched An Mo's somewhat perverted actions and didn't bother retorting. She instead looked past him and stare out the window to determine the time of day.

An Mo seemed to sense her actions, so he asked.

"Xai-xai, what are we going to do now? Do you have somewhere you plan on going?"

"Hm, I have a few places in mind, but I'm undecided for the moment."

Xai Lin had felt something was strange yesterday after kidnapping Su Jin, but due to An Mo's injury she hadn't paid much attention to that feeling. However, now that she had woken up after resting, that feeling was crystal clear to her now.

Xai Lin carefully sensed her physical body and soul and confirmed that she wasn't sensing wrongly.

'My physical body and soul feel much more connected, and that feeling of invisible coercion has faded by quite a bit.'

It wasn't that her soul and physical body had been in disharmony, but rather she just felt like her soul and this world had gained a more intimate connection. Adding this to the feeling of the Heavenly Dao's influence on her fading, a guess was forming in her mind.

'Heh. Am I being accepted by the Heavenly Dao of this cultivation world?'

Xai Lin thought back on what happened yesterday, and why this situation was occurring. It wasn't long for her to come to a conclusion.

'Aside from kidnapping Su Jin and changing his fate of being deceived by that white dragon, I haven't done anything significant. Which is to say, I'm being rewarded for helping a main protagonist?'

Since he changed Su Jin's fate, Sikong would no longer have to kill his younger brother, and would instead be receiving Top-grade treasures in the future. No doubt this was giving him a carrot, after stealing a whole roasted chicken from him.

But what did this mean?

Was the Heavenly Dao telling her she should be helping these protagonists, instead of conspiring against them?

However, her method of stealing their opportunities to resist its influence was working just fine for her, it was just that the progress was a lot slower than helping them, judging by what she was feeling now.

Xai Lin fell into deep contemplation; however, it wasn't long before she shook her head internally and thought with a laugh.

'What's there to decided? I'll just do both, after all, how can I give up on those opportunities? Plus, even if I steal them, the Heavenly Dao will just compensate them with another one.'

Xai Lin had already determined this when that sliver of Divine Sense from her own Sect's Ancestor appeared just to bestow that Han Gu Wei with an Immortal-grade cultivation technique on par with her Heaven and Earth Refinement Scripture.

As Xai Lin was in her thoughts, she felt a wet sensation on her knuckles. Turning her head, she saw that it was An Mo licking and biting her.

"I've decided."

Xai Lin said as she moved her fingers to catch that pink object. However, An Mo pulled back his tongue, dodging Xai Lin's claws.

"What have you decided? Hiss…"

An Mo asked, but right after he hissed in pain as Xai Lin had pinched his bottom lip in dissatisfaction.

Feeling the force on his lip increasing, An Mo obediently stuck out his tongue once more. Satisfied, Xai Lin let go off his lip and pinched the tip of his tongue.

While absentmindedly squeezing the pink object between her fingers, Xai Lin answered An Mo's previous question.

"It's a cultivation city on a different continent. After we reach, I'll buy you some clothes and show you around."

"Mhm…"

An Mo grunted in agreement, but by now his face had turned bright red by Xai Lin's actions. However, Xai Lin didn't seem to notice his current state.

After a moment, An Mo began shifting his body, feeling a bit restless.

Xai Lin, who had been engrossed in pinching An Mo's tongue, finally snapped back to her senses.

"Oh, sorry. It's quite nice to touch."

Xai Lin said apologetically as she let go. But before she could retrieve her hand, An Mo opened his mouth and gently bit her fingers.

While looking up at Xai Lin, he said indistinctly.

"I never said I didn't like it."

An Mo then stuck out his tongue and licked away his saliva that had gotten on the tip of Xai Lin's thumb and index finger.

Xai Lin paused and quietly watched An Mo's actions.

After finishing, An Mo looked up and saw that Xai Lin was silently observing him. A blush immediately crept up his neck and cheeks, but his warm golden eyes steadily met Xai Lin's icy blue eyes.

The two remain like that, just staring at each other for moment, before An Mo softly muttered.

"Xai-xai…"

He then leaned forward as if to kiss Xai Lin, but Xai Lin suddenly turned her head away at the last minute. Before An Mo could act aggrieved, Xai Lin pressed his head down and said.

"Alright, stop acting up. What are you trying to do so early in the morning?"

An Mo squirmed for a moment in dissatisfaction, before he wrapped his arms around Xai Lin's waist and pressed his entire weight on top her, while burying his head in the crook of her neck and grumbling unhappily.

Xai Lin didn't bother coaxing An Mo, she was too busy trying to calm her racing heart and blushing face.

Thinking back to that scene, Xai Lin's heart skipped a beat, and she felt her face heating up once again.

Soon, she couldn't help but let out a soft sigh.

To think she was almost seduced by this childish fellow. He didn't even know how closed he was from being pushed down and ravage just now, yet he was acting all aggrieved.

After casting those thoughts to the back of her mind, Xai Lin raised one of her arms from An Mo's back, before a jade green token suddenly appeared in her hand.

After placing this jade token on her forehead, pages filled with dense characters appeared in her mind.

Xai Lin flipped through these pages and after a moment she finally stopped on a particular page.

On top of this page, the title "The Immortal Nomad" was written.

'I guess I'll go visit Seong's story arc next, since its close by.'

A smile tugged at the corner of Xai Lin's mouth as she thought this, but her expression soon turned into a frown when she recalled what transpired during this story arc in Heavenly Illusions.

Since it was beneficial for her to change the tragedies that occur to those protagonists and those around them, then she would try her best to do so. But if there was one that she really wanted to change, Seong's story was undoubtedly one of them.
