Chapter 221 - minato 218

Fubuki stood there awkwardly in the heavy silence.

Total silence.

The guards didn't utter another word, their armored forms as motionless as statues carved from iron, the moonlight glinting coldly off their polished plates.

Minutes dragged on, each one heavier than the last, the night air cool against her exposed neck and carrying the distant chirp of crickets from the palace gardens.

She shifted her weight subtly, the smooth silk of her light blue dress whispering against her skin, but she maintained her regal posture, refusing to show discomfort.

Suddenly, the guards moved in perfect unison, their armor plates clinking with mechanical precision like the gears of some war machine. One of them spoke in that same cold, stern voice:

"Enter." No warmth, no bow of respect—just a flat command that hung in the air.

As the massive ironwood doors swung open with a low, resonant groan that vibrated through the floor, Fubuki couldn't help but wonder what these men had endured to become the Daimyo's personal guards.

Years of brutal conditioning in hidden barracks? Families taken as leverage? Loyalty burned into them through pain and unyielding discipline? She stepped inside, and the sheer scale assaulted her senses.

The ceilings soared so high she had to tilt her neck upward, revealing painted beams overhead adorned with sprawling landscapes and mythical beasts in shimmering gold leaf and deep crimson.

The space felt less like a personal residence and more like the grand halls reserved for noble banquets—vast open areas with polished stone floors that echoed every footstep sharply, flanked by towering columns wrapped in embroidered silk banners that stirred faintly in the draft.

Priceless paintings lined the walls: stern portraits of past rulers staring down in judgment, vivid scenes of victorious battles with clashing swords frozen in time, and misty landscapes from conquered territories.

The air was warmer here, heavy with the sweet, cloying scents of ripe fruit, exotic perfumes, and burning incense sticks that left a hazy trail.

Fubuki walked forward in measured steps, the sharp click of her heels on the stone the only sound breaking the oppressive quiet.

She wasn't entirely sure which direction to take in the labyrinthine layout, so she followed the main path illuminated by wall lanterns, passing side chambers filled with low lacquered tables, plush cushions, and flickering candles that cast dancing shadows.

The faint sound of distant laughter grew louder as she advanced.

Soon, she entered an even larger circular hall dominated by opulent golden decorations—intricate filigree swirling across the walls like living vines, massive chandeliers dripping with crystals that tinkled softly in the breeze, and a raised central platform holding an enormous circular bed draped in the finest crimson silks.

There, lounging like a decadent emperor, was the Daimyo.

Several beautiful women surrounded him, their laughter light and practiced, echoing off the high ceilings.

They wore flowing silk garments that clung to their bodies, the necklines cut low enough to tease with generous cleavage—strategic hints of skin that excited without crossing into vulgarity, enhancing their allure under the warm lantern glow.

One woman leaned in close, the scent of her jasmine perfume wafting across the room as she placed a plump, juicy grape directly into his mouth with her lips.

The Daimyo grinned wolfishly, his hand boldly squeezing her rear with a firm grip. The others giggled in response, one feeding him wine from a jeweled cup that spilled a few drops onto his chest, while another massaged his shoulders with oiled hands.

Fubuki approached steadily, her heels clicking louder now against the stone, each step deliberate and resonant. The women paused mid-laughter, turning their heads in unison to regard her with a mix of curiosity and subtle wariness.

Each one was a striking beauty, handpicked by the Daimyo from every corner of the country—some with porcelain skin and delicate, almond-shaped eyes from the northern provinces, others with warm olive complexions and sharp, expressive features from the southern lands.

She stopped before the platform and knelt gracefully on one knee, head bowed low in formal deference, the cool floor pressing against her skin through the thin fabric.

"Greetings, Lord Daimyo," she said clearly, her voice steady despite the knot in her stomach.

"Hmmm," the Daimyo grunted, barely glancing up as he chewed the grape, juice glistening on his lips.

He waved a dismissive hand, his fingers still sticky.

"So, who is your mother? I must have remembered bedding such a beauty as you."Fubuki kept her expression neutral, eyes fixed on the ornate patterns in the floor tiles.

"I am Fubuki, my Lord. Daughter of Lady Akari from the eastern—"

"It doesn't really matter," he cut her off mid-sentence, his booming voice laced with boredom as he pulled one of the women closer, nuzzling her neck with a wet kiss that made her giggle.

The woman's silk robe slipped slightly off one shoulder. "What brings you here at this hour, girl? Speak quickly."Fubuki remained kneeling, the position sending a dull ache through her knee.

"I have come for the traditional greeting before the festival, as custom requires, my Lord. To offer my respects and ensure the clan's blessings."The Daimyo chuckled deeply, his attention shifting back to her for a longer moment while one woman traced lazy circles on his thigh.

"Ah, yes. The festival. Always these pointless traditions. I still haven't married you off, have I? How old are you now—twenty? Past time."

"No, my Lord," she replied evenly, keeping her gaze lowered.

"Hmmm… After this festival, I will decide your marriage," he said, his eyes roaming over her form with open appraisal, lingering on the curves accentuated by her dress.

"You know how to use your beauty to seduce a man, don't you? Lean into those assets. A strong alliance with the eastern clans could secure our borders and bring in new trade routes. Bat your eyes, whisper sweet promises—make him desperate for you."

"Yes, I know, my Lord," Fubuki said, her tone respectful but flat.

One of the women whispered something teasing in the Daimyo's ear about "fresh competition," causing him to laugh heartily, the sound bouncing off the walls.

"Considering your looks, you will bring me significant benefits," he continued, reaching out to tilt her chin up briefly with two fingers, his touch rough and possessive.

The scent of wine and perfume clung to his skin. "Don't disappoint me. Play the role well, or I'll find another use for you. Understood?"

"I serve the clan's interests above all, my Lord," Fubuki answered, meeting his eyes for a split second before lowering them again. From tomorrow, everything will change—either for the worse or for the best.

"Good girl. Now leave," he dismissed her with a lazy wave of his hand, already turning back to his companions.

He pulled one woman flush against him, his hand squeezing her rear once more with a satisfied grunt.

The others became active again, their soft laughter and whispers filling the hall as hands roamed freely over his chest and thighs, silk rustling and bodies shifting in a tangle of indulgence.

She turned around and left.
