UK:GSW Chapter 355 – Konoha No. 2 Prepares to Deal with Danzo Shimura and the Elder Council
Time rewinds a little—while Sasuke was in the main world's Konoha, living out his Batman life and entering a metamorphosis, events in World No. 2 were also proceeding in an orderly fashion.
After sending Sasuke to the main world, Uchiha Kei's clone had the specially crafted puppet clone power down and placed it back into the refrigerated coffin for storage. He himself came back online via Shadow Clone and returned to Konoha No. 2 alongside Minato Namikaze.
When they arrived, they found that Jiraiya was nowhere to be seen. Asking around, they learned he had gone wandering around Konoha—and had eventually run into Konoha No. 2's own Jiraiya. The two Jiraiyas had promptly paired up and gone off to… who knew what.
Well, everyone could guess what.
No doubt it was mostly "art" talk, with a side discussion of the Child of Prophecy. And even the prophecy topic would likely be over quickly—the real main course was the "art."
There was no question: young Jiraiya would certainly be interested in older Jiraiya's Icha Icha novels, regarded in the original story as great works of shinobi world art. Even if the older Jiraiya's raw skills weren't what they once were, his decades of accumulated works were undeniably classics, worth savoring.
Likewise, the young Jiraiya would share his own "artistic masterpieces" for the older Jiraiya to enjoy. And given that these were crafted through genjutsu-based games, their quality would undoubtedly hook the older Jiraiya completely, making him a loyal fan.
After all, male friendship can be that simple.
This development came as no surprise to Uchiha Kei—in fact, it would've been strange not to happen.
Even Minato, though unfamiliar with the original Naruto storyline, had expected it—because he knew his teacher well.
Both Kei and Minato were happy to see it happen. It meant both sides now had a heavyweight figure able to deepen mutual understanding, strengthening ties between the two Konohas.
In fact, while the two Jiraiyas were hitting it off, Kakashi and Fifth Hokage Tsunade were also deep in discussion.
To the current Tsunade, the young Kakashi was now firmly in her mind as a future Sixth Hokage candidate.
Not in the sense of basic aptitude—he already had that—but in being deliberately exposed to the actual duties of Hokage, preparing him to take the position.
If this had been the Kakashi of the past, he would have reacted with reluctance and evasions. Before the Pain Assault, and before seeing his father in death, Kakashi had no intention or resolve to be Hokage. Even after those events and being revived by Nagato, he only agreed to take the role out of necessity—because no one else could.
And even then, it didn't work out. The infamous "Fifth-and-a-Half Hokage" Danzo Shimura pulled a preemptive move—hiding during the Pain attack, then, when it was over, skipping over all of Konoha's leadership to secure the Fire Daimyo's appointment for himself, stealing the role that would have gone to Kakashi.
Though that failed bid led to Kakashi eventually becoming Sixth Hokage after the Fourth Great Ninja War, it was far from an ideal process.
That was the original Kakashi's path. But in this butterfly-effect-shaken world, the young Kakashi had undergone a complete transformation. After The Living Saint Kakashi Hatake Who Returned from Warhammer 40K to Forge a New Path and Face Chaos, his resolve was stronger than ever—surpassing most of the shinobi world's most driven individuals.
He was now entirely prepared to become Hokage—and if Tsunade didn't want to hand over the position, he'd be ready to seize it himself.
With the "Chaos" threat (even if hypothetical) in mind, Kakashi knew time was short and that drastic measures might be necessary to ready the world for survival.
And in truth, he wasn't wrong. While Chaos wasn't real here, there were threats just as dangerous—the Ōtsutsuki clan.
If World No. 2 was indeed connected to Boruto's timeline, then in barely over a decade, the Ōtsutsuki would begin appearing, and the hidden forces among them would surface. By then, even Naruto and Sasuke at their peak would be forced into retreat.
Ten years was not enough to prepare—even with the main world's Konoha added in. Only with Kei's technology and "borrowed" resources could they hope to push further in that time.
And Tsunade was no power-hungry leader. If she had her way, she'd hand off the Hokage hat immediately. From the start, she never wanted the job—it was responsibility, legacy, and Naruto's inspiration that made her take it on.
Now, with a reborn Kakashi ready in both will and ability, she was eager to pass the torch.
So that night, she skipped sleep to hold a closed-door meeting with her inner circle. Afterward, upon hearing that the two Jiraiyas had met up, she dismissed the others but kept young Kakashi behind.
Her stance was clear: cooperation with the other Konoha was essential, but the execution and details would be up to Kakashi—and much of the Hokage's workload would be shifted to him. Was he willing?
Kakashi didn't hesitate—an entirely different man from the past who would have dodged and shirked.
Tsunade studied him for a moment, sensing just how much he'd changed.
Then he spoke his first proposal—and it nearly made her lose composure.
"If we want to cooperate well with the other Konoha," Kakashi said, "we must first deal with our Elder Council. They cannot be allowed to interfere, or they will become a massive obstacle, perhaps even sabotage things.
"I propose that Elder Homura Mitokado and Elder Koharu Utatane be removed from office and retire peacefully in Konoha. As for Danzo Shimura—he should be arrested and tried. If necessary, we can even hand him over to the other Konoha for execution."
Straight to execution—no warm-up.
Tsunade knew Danzo was disliked and had done plenty of damage. She now knew he had a hand in the Uchiha massacre. But to outright plan his removal so bluntly? That was… extreme.
Not to mention calling him "Danzo Shimura" with no title at all. This wasn't the Kakashi she remembered.
She voiced her doubts and tried to temper his stance.
But Kakashi shook his head. "No—the others we can deal with gently. Danzo, however, must go. His crimes are far worse than you imagine—inside and outside the village, he has persecuted countless people, costing us many talents and making enemies for Konoha.
"He has also dabbled in many forbidden things. In the other Konoha, it's confirmed that over twenty years ago, Danzo was secretly experimenting with the First Hokage's cells—killing many in the process.
"It's been over twenty years since then. You know him far less than the Third did, and with fewer restraints now—can you imagine what he's been doing in secret?"
Hearing this, Tsunade's expression darkened—especially at the mention of Hashirama's cells. Her anger flared.
She took a deep breath. "Can we confirm this intel? That both versions of Danzo committed the same crimes?"
Kakashi: "If anything, more in our world. And Tsunade-sama—have you forgotten about Yamato?"
Tsunade blinked. "Yamato? Wasn't he said to be the only success from the Wood Release experiments before the old man called them off?"
Her face hardened. "…So Yamato wasn't the Third's doing—but Danzo's?"
Kakashi realized that Tsunade had been deceived by the combined Elder Council in the past, thanks to his own earlier refusal to get involved in Konoha politics.
He nodded. "Yes. And the Elders all knew."
Those few words said it all. Tsunade slammed her fist down, shattering the Senju clan's desk before her. Her face was stormy with anger and betrayal—her authority as Hokage had been undercut all along.
She looked at Kakashi. "You should have told me this sooner."
Kakashi lowered his head. "My apologies, Tsunade-sama. I assumed the Elders would have told you, and most of what I know about Root and Danzo comes from the other world."
Tsunade exhaled sharply, calming herself. "Forget it. What's done is done. We'll do as you say.
"As for investigating and apprehending Danzo, I'll have my Hokage Guard cooperate fully. Use whatever means you need—this time, I care only about the result."
In other words, she was granting full authority—whatever Kakashi wanted to do to Root was fair game, so long as it uncovered the truth.
He could even call on the other Konoha for help, and she wouldn't question it.
Kakashi nodded, then added: "Even without the other Konoha's input, we have to deal with Danzo. He's a mortal enemy of the Uchiha, and in our world, there are still Uchiha survivors."
Tsunade's eyes flickered. "You mean… Sasuke? Or Itachi?"
Kakashi: "From what little I've seen of Lord Kei, he's very interested in Sasuke. With his ability, helping Sasuke grow strong enough to awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan would be trivial—and he would certainly tell Sasuke the truth about the massacre.
"As for Uchiha Itachi—no matter the reasons behind the clan's destruction, Kei and the other Konoha's Uchiha will never forgive him. Blood debts must be repaid.
"So, for the sake of our village's future, we must deal with Danzo—and quickly. Timing is critical. Even a delay of days could change the outcome completely."
Tsunade understood well—if they acted now, before avengers came knocking, they could show sincerity and take the initiative. If they waited, it would look like they had been forced into it—and then simply handing over Danzo might not be enough to resolve things.
Thus, for Konoha No. 2, dealing with Danzo and Root had become a race against time.
